Stone oil is a medicine used by traditional medicine in China, Tibet and Burma, as well as by some peoples of Western and Eastern Siberia, Altai, and Mongolia. It is a rare natural mineral, which, unlike mummy, does not contain organic impurities.

What is stone oil?

This unusual substance has been known to people since ancient times, and for the first time it attracted the attention of mountain hunters, who noticed animals licking stones. Looking closely, people saw that they were not licking the stones themselves, but the hardened film on them, which is now called differently: stone oil, brush, white stone, mountain wax, and so on. The mineral is mined in high-mountainous regions where there is no vegetation, literally bit by bit scraping it off the surface of cave rocks and crevices.

The exact mechanism by which brackshun (stone oil) is formed is not known, but it has been found that it is a leaching product of certain rocks. The extracted product is cleaned from limestone and other rocks. It is a plate, crushed into a white-yellow or beige powder, which may have a reddish or greenish tint (depending on the predominance of certain additional elements). Brakshun has an astringent taste with slight sourness, it is highly soluble in water, but poorly soluble in alcohol, glycerin, ether.

Stone oil - composition

Studying the chemical composition of brackshun, experts attributed it to the group of aluminum-magnesium alum. About 90-95% of it is occupied by magnesium and aluminum sulfates, and the remaining components vary depending on the type and age of the mountains on which it was formed. In the highest concentrations, Chinese stone oil often contains the following ingredients:

  • zinc;
  • copper;
  • iron;
  • potassium;
  • calcium;
  • silicon;
  • selenium;
  • nickel;
  • gold;
  • vanadium;
  • phosphorus;
  • chromium;
  • manganese;
  • cobalt;
  • sodium.

All of these substances are beneficial to the human body, but, in addition to them, the composition of the product in question may contain harmful ingredients: mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead. It is worth noting that the concentrations of harmful elements in stone oil are so negligible that, with proper use, they are not able to negatively affect the state of health.

Fenugreek (Shambhala, fenugreek) is a well-known plant under other names - methi, hilbe, chaman, Greek hay, Greek goat trefoil, Greek sochevitsa, cocked hat, camel grass. Belongs to the legume family, and is not a spice, but beans, being a good source of vegetable protein. Fenugreek is so valuable that there is even a belief that "if all medicines are put on one scale and fenugreek on the other, the scales will balance." All parts of the plant are used. Its seeds have a strong, slightly sweet smell, reminiscent of nut and mushroom.

Fenugreek reduces vata and kapha and increases pitta.

Studies have shown that the composition of fenugreek is very similar to fish oil, which is very important for vegetarians.

Fenugreek seeds are one of the best home remedies for colds and lung ailments.

They are used for influenza, bronchitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, with a protracted, chronic cough, with chronic cough, bronchial asthma (which I talked about in a post, I will have to repeat here):

Recommended 2 tsp. seeds (preferably freshly ground) boil in 1 glass of water for 5-10 minutes. over low heat with dates, figs. You can add honey after (you can combine all the ingredients). Take 3-4 times a day for ½ cup.

With a dry cough, a milk decoction of seeds helps a lot. The bitter taste of fenugreek seed infusion is drowned out with a small addition of fennel.

When coughing, especially dry, jelly helps:
fennel, cardamom (seeds without boxes), fenugreek: 2 tbsp. spoons, but more often - more fennel, less cardamom, as it is quite expensive. Grind, take about 6 pcs. large figs or 10 dates, finely chopped, pour water, 2 cups and boil over low heat for 15 minutes. Sometimes you have to add water during the cooking process so that it does not burn. It turns out a thick porridge (you can take more water, there will be a more liquid form). After cooling, grind in a blender. Store in the refrigerator, as needed, take ½ of this mixture (it thickens even more), dilute with warm water or milk.

The original Ayurvedic recipe: it is advised to cook cotton wool in milk. But milk sometimes curdles when boiling figs and dates, so it is enough to dilute the mixture with hot milk. Can be sweetened with agave syrup. You can use honey if you don't count the calories.

This jelly works great as a sedative, especially for vata, 1 hour before bedtime. An excellent remedy for people weakened after illness and recovering, especially for diseases of the nervous, respiratory and reproductive systems. By the way, everyone notes improved digestion.

From the same seeds (without figs and dates) you can make tea. After it, respiratory problems decrease, nasal congestion disappears, digestion improves, sleep improves.
