Hypersensitivity to the drug components, severe arterial hypertension, tachysystolic heart rhythm disturbances, decompensated heart failure, cardiac conduction disturbances, severe renal and / or hepatic failure, thyrotoxicosis, acute pancreatitis, thromboembolism (including previously transferred), granulocytopenia, monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or within 14 days after stopping treatment with MAO inhibitors.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, the following disorders are possible: arterial hypertension, pain and discomfort in the heart, palpitations, respiratory disorders, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, agitation, convulsions, sleep disturbances, anxiety, irritability, psychosis with hallucinations, general weakness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, oliguria, urination disorders, facial redness, feeling of coldness in the extremities, paresthesia, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, decreased blood flow to vital organs, which can lead to deterioration of blood supply to the kidneys, metabolic acidosis, increased load on the heart due to an increase in total peripheral resistance. Treatment is symptomatic.

Precautionary measures

For patients with arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, thyroid diseases, angle-closure glaucoma, diabetes mellitus, liver diseases, pancreas, urinary disorders (for example, in case of prostatic hyperplasia), the drug can be used only after consulting a doctor, during treatment it is necessary medical supervision.

Before prescribing the drug, the doctor should clarify the allergic history, including allergic reactions to other sympathomimetic drugs.

In case of profuse bleeding from the anus or the absence of a therapeutic effect when using the drug, you should consult a doctor.

Interaction with other medicinal products

The drug should not be used simultaneously with other vasoconstrictors (regardless of the route of administration of the latter), as well as with antihypertensive drugs (13-blockers). Atropine sulfate blocks phenylephrine-induced reflex bradycardia and increases the vasopressor response to phenylephrine. The simultaneous use of phenylephrine with B-blockers can lead to arterial hypertension and severe bradycardia with possible heart block.

Care should be taken when using the drug Relief together with thyroid hormones, drugs that affect cardiac conduction (cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmic drugs). With simultaneous use with drugs that cause the excretion of potassium (for example, with diuretics such as furosemide), hypokalemia may increase and decrease sensitivity to vasopressor drugs such as phenylephrine.

The simultaneous use of phenylephrine and other sympathomimetic agents can lead to additional stimulation of the central nervous system, which is accompanied by agitation, irritability, insomnia, and the development of a convulsive attack is possible.

According to statistics, 8 out of 10 people suffer from such a juicy problem as hemorrhoids. Varicose enlargement and inflammation of the hemorrhoidal veins is manifested by severe soreness in the anus, constipation and bleeding. Hemorrhoids are dangerous not only for their symptoms, but also for formidable complications. This condition requires urgent and active treatment.

One of the most convenient and effective form of therapy is rectal suppositories. Suppositories "Relief" is an effective drug that has proven itself well in the treatment of many pathologies of the anus.

Suppositories "Relief" are a group of drugs that are actively used in proctology for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, as well as injuries of the lower rectum. On the shelves of pharmacies, you can find several types of this medication:

  • "Relief". It has a pronounced hemostatic effect, accelerates tissue regeneration, due to which it is actively used in stage I-II hemorrhoids. Suitable for long-term use in chronic disease;
  • Relief Advance is used when pain syndrome prevails. Also prescribed for chronic hemorrhoids;
  • "Relief Ultra" is effective for severe inflammation of hemorrhoids accompanied by fever. It is used in the complex treatment of pathology. Application is possible in short courses in the acute period.

Composition

Rectal suppositories "Relief" are opaque, pale yellow. They have a specific (fishy) smell, an oblong shape. The main active ingredients are shark liver oil and phenylephrine hydrochloride. The auxiliary components include:

  • Methyl and propylparaben;
  • Vitamin E;
  • Lanolin;
  • Benzoic acid;
  • Glycerin, lanolin alcohol;
  • Thyme, corn, and mineral;
  • Paraffin, white wax;
  • Purified water.

Shark liver oil contains a wide range of vitamins and glycerol, which have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, relieve pain syndrome, and stimulate local immunity. This component helps to eliminate itching, as well as accelerate the healing of wounds and cracks. Phenylephrine is a component that promotes vasoconstriction, thereby eliminating bleeding, optimizing blood flow in the hemorrhoids and rectal network.

Relief Advance contains benzocaine instead of phenylephrine, which provides its powerful analgesic effect. Benzocaine acts on nerve endings, which manifests itself in a local anesthetic effect.

Suppositories "Relief Ultra" differ markedly from the rest of the rectal suppositories of this line. Here shark liver oil and phenylephrine are replaced with hydrocortisone and zinc sulfate monohydrate. Hydrocortisone has powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, vasoconstrictor effects. It eliminates local swelling, itching and pain.

This allows it to be used in the acute period of the disease, quickly and effectively eliminate the main symptoms of the disease. Zinc sulfate monohydrate is essential for quick healing of wounds and cracks. In addition, cocoa bean butter is added to the Relief Ultra candles, which eliminates inflammation, while increasing the analgesic effect.

Indications

Due to its unique composition, this drug is prescribed for pathologies such as:

Instructions for the use of candles "Relief"

Before using the "Relief" rectal suppositories, all hygiene rules must be observed. First of all, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. This will protect against the ingress of harmful bacteria that may be on the skin of the hands, on the surface affected by inflammation, and also prevent the aggravation of the patient's condition. Then an external perineum toilet is performed.

A prerequisite for successful therapy is a thorough toilet of the perianal region and perineum before each injection of the suppository, as well as cleansing the intestines. It is worth noting that it makes no sense to inject a candle before bowel movement, since the drug will not have time to be absorbed to take effect. Usually doctors recommend a cleansing enema.

Before inserting the candle, it must be cooled (under the influence of room temperature, the candle melts quickly, so its use will be impossible). For this, all suppositories must be stored in the refrigerator.

The introduction of the drug is carried out in a supine position on the back or on the side. Before the introduction of the suppository, it is necessary to moisten the anal ring with warm water or lubricate with petroleum jelly. This will make it easier to insert the candle and make it less uncomfortable.

The candle must be carefully removed from the package, and then inserted with a rounded end into the anus by 2-3 cm. After that, lie down for a few minutes. The candle will quickly melt, absorbed into the rectal mucosa. If the doctor prescribed the introduction of half of the suppository, then the cooled candle must be carefully cut with a sharp knife along.

For maximum positive effect, the introduction of "Relief" candles should be regular, while continuing for a long time. For patients over 12 years of age, a suppository is prescribed no more than 4 times a day:

  • After a night's sleep (no longer than 30 minutes);
  • Shortly before sleep;
  • After each bowel movement.

The dosage can vary depending on the severity of the patient's condition, and should be strictly controlled by the attending physician. To choose the correct dosage and frequency of use of the medication, patients under 12 years old need to consult a specialist.

Instructions for the use of candles "Relief" Advance

The most commonly used scheme for the use of "Relief" Advance candles is 4 candles per day for 1 week. After the termination of the exacerbation, respectively, the reduction of the pain syndrome, the frequency of injections is reduced to 2 or the drug will be replaced with suppositories "Relief". When the condition does not stabilize within a week's course, the doctor can extend the administration of Relief Advance suppositories up to 3 weeks or more. The rules and method of administration of the drug are the same as for "Relief" candles.

Instructions for the use of candles "Relief Ultra"

The rules of admission and dosage for this type of drug completely coincide with the instructions of "Relief Advance". However, "Relief Ultra" has a wider range of side effects and contraindications, which requires strict adherence to the doctor's prescription and careful monitoring of the patient's condition within 7-10 days of using these suppositories.

Side effects

According to clinical studies, patients tolerate this drug well. Among the most common side effects are:

In case of abuse and non-observance of the instructions, "Relief Ultra" candles can cause more serious violations:

That is why patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, prostate diseases, hyperthyroidism should undergo a thorough examination, while using the drug under the strict supervision of a physician.

Pharmacological composition

The main healing effects of "Relief" suppositories are provided by phenylephrine hydrochloride. In addition to the main active ingredient, rectal suppositories contain many useful components responsible for the rapid regeneration of damaged areas of the rectum, contribute to the restoration of vascular tone and prevent the further spread of bacterial infection.

Each individual component acts differently:

  • phenylephrine hydrochloride - a substance belonging to the group of adrenergic agonists, capable of narrowing the dilated hemorrhoidal vessels, providing a sufficient outflow rate of venous blood;
  • shark liver oil - natural hemostatic, anti-inflammatory agent that stimulates the immune system and is able to restore metabolism in the vascular wall;
  • vitamin E - is a powerful antioxidant that helps cleanse the anal area from toxic substances, removes free radicals and has a positive effect on tissue regeneration.

Cocoa butter is used as a fatty base for the preparation of suppositories. It provides painless and easy administration of the drug into the rectal lumen. Thyme oil and glycerin have emollient properties, due to the enveloping of painful areas of the anal area, pain relief, elimination of dryness, itching and burning in the anus.

According to the instructions attached to the Relief preparations, these medicines are a combination of several active ingredients.

Types of rectal suppositories

The development of hemorrhoids in each patient is individual, some people complain of intense pain, while others suffer from a feeling of heaviness in the anus. The severity of certain symptoms of the disease varies depending on the stage of hemorrhoids and the nature of possible complications. The manufacturer of the suppositories took into account the main nuances of the pathogenesis of hemorrhoidal inflammation of the veins and, in accordance with them, various variations of suppositories were created.

The use of the latter is appropriate in the treatment of severe forms of hemorrhoids, which are accompanied by severe allergic reactions with the addition of a bacterial infection. For eczema or dermatitis that affects the entire perineum, treatment with ointments that contain a hormonal component may be required. Before using Relief suppositories, it is recommended to visit a doctor to determine the stage of hemorrhoids and select the appropriate drug. And also undergo a comprehensive examination.

Who is shown using candles

In addition to inflammation of hemorrhoidal veins, there are many proctological diseases that can only be dealt with with the help of complex therapy. An effective remedy for hemorrhoids must have a combined effect. The composition of the suppositories "Relief" contains both anti-inflammatory and nutritional components, due to which there is a rapid restoration of the rectal mucosa.

Rectal suppositories are shown in such conditions:

  • hemorrhoids with prolapse of venous nodes and internal hemorrhoids;
  • erosion or ulcerative formations in the lumen of the rectum;
  • anal fissures;
  • eczematous lesion;

Instructions for the use of candles "Relief"

No matter how wonderful and potent the chosen drug is, if the basic rules of hygiene are not followed, all its useful properties are noticeably reduced. The use of suppositories requires perfect cleanliness and special care.

Algorithm for setting a rectal suppository:

  • before administering the medicine, it is necessary to empty the intestines and thoroughly wash the anal area with warm water;
  • hands should be clean, if there are wounds and abrasions, it is recommended to wear rubber gloves;
  • the patient lies on one side, exposing the anal area;
  • the buttocks should be slightly parted, then the suppository should be slowly inserted into the anus;
  • after the procedure, you need to lie on your side for half an hour so that the active substance can be absorbed into the mucous membrane.

Regardless of the form of release and indications for use, Relief Ultra, Advance or Fast, hygiene procedures of the perineal area should be carried out before each use of this drug.

With the formation of highly enlarged hemorrhoids, prone to prolapse, the introduction of a suppository can be difficult. In such cases, it is better to use the drug in the form of an ointment. Gauze folded in the form of a square is smeared with medicine, then applied to the affected area.

Contraindications and side effects

Pregnant and lactating women are allowed to use the drug only with the consent of the proctologist and gynecologist, since some of its components tend to penetrate the placenta and breast milk. In severe stages of hemorrhoids, rectal suppositories alone are not enough; with exacerbation of signs of the disease, the joint use of other, more effective means may be required. People with vascular pathologies should visit their doctor before using suppositories.

  • with a reduced number of leukocytes;
  • people sensitive to the components of the drug;
  • in case of violation of the heart rhythm;
  • patients with arterial hypertension;
  • with acute and chronic renal failure;
  • with a tendency to hypercoagulability and thrombus formation.

You should be extremely careful while using antihypertensive drugs, tranquilizers and drugs that affect blood clotting in parallel. It is not recommended to use the medicine more than twice a day. With frequent use of suppositories, the risk of local allergic reactions increases. Women taking contraceptive pills are advised to use barrier contraception during treatment with Relief candles.

Relief ointment - a remedy for hemorrhoids. The instruction says that the ointment relieves pain and removes bleeding. The pharmacy offers Relief Advance, Relief Ulta and a drug of similar action - Deep Relief.

Relief ointments are sold in tubes of 28g. Each tube is equipped with an applicator (for easy insertion into the anus). The effectiveness of Relief treatment is quite high, provided that the drug you bought is not a fake.

Types of Relief ointments: Advance and Ultra

The German-Swiss pharmaceutical company Bayer produces three types of ointments and suppositories Relief with the so-called angioprotective (against hemorrhoids) action. It:

  • Relief - ointment and suppositories.
  • Relief Advance - ointment and suppositories.
  • - no ointment is produced, only candles.

The listed drugs have common indications for use - hemorrhoids, anal itching, cracks. But at the same time they differ in a set of active and additional components.

All types of Relief contain shark liver oil, as well as various vasoconstrictor drugs, anabolic steroids, agents for treating inflammation and stopping bleeding. Due to the differences in composition, ointments are used to treat hemorrhoids in different stages.

  • Simple Relief is prescribed at the beginning of the detection of hemorrhoidswhen bleeding appears during bowel movements. Moreover, if there are only external nodes, an ointment is used. If hemorrhoids are located inside, suppositories are placed. If both are available, ointment and suppositories are used at the same time.
  • If, in addition to the discharge of blood, pain appears, Relief Advance with an anabolic is prescribed... Likewise - only suppositories for internal nodes, or ointment - for external bumps. Or complex treatment - with several hemorrhoidal formations in the rectum and anus.
  • - the strongest drug, produced exclusively in the form of suppositories, used for intraintestinal treatment of hemorrhoids in the presence of an inflammatory process (which is accompanied by pain, swelling, bleeding).

The choice of a drug for treatment is carried out according to the symptoms of the manifestation of the disease, its clinical form and stage of development.

Warming ointments: Deep Relief and Fast Relief

The pharmaceutical industry offers two more drugs under the trade name Relief. This is Deep Relief and Fast Relief. They are radically different from antihemorrhoidal ointments, designed to warm up deep tissues. However, sometimes their action is effective in eliminating blood stasis in hemorrhoids.

Deep Relief - ointment (gel) produced by a British pharmaceutical company. It is not intended to treat hemorrhoids. Designed for pain relief and treatment of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, arthrosis and osteoarthritis, as well as radiculitis, pinching, stretching).

The gel contains two active ingredients: ibuprofen (against inflammation) and levomenthol (weak anesthetic). Therefore, Deep Relief provides anti-inflammatory, decongestant, analgesic effects.

- an Indian manufacturer's ointment, which, according to the instructions is a remedy for joint and muscle pain... It contains turpentine (turpentine), eucalyptus and clove oil, camphor, menthol, which stimulate blood circulation and provide a warming effect. As a result, the condition of the tissues improves during inflammation, edema, pinching, spasm and neurological pain decrease.

These compositions can be used in the treatment of external hemorrhoids in the initial stage. (when there is no bleeding). The application of warming ointments to hemorrhoids promotes their resorption.

Important: warming ointments should not be used in the bleeding stage. They will increase blood flow, slow down the formation of a blood clot in the wound.

Relief - ointment at the beginning of hemorrhoids

The anti-hemorrhoid effect of Relief ointment provides its composition. What the ointment contains:

  • Phenylephrine hydrochloride - has a vasoconstrictor, which means it has an anti-edema effect. Its 1 g of ointment contains only 2.5 mg or 0.25%.

Despite its low content, phenylephrine is named by the manufacturer as the main active ingredient. In addition to him, the ointment contains several other components, which are called auxiliary:

  • Shark fish liver oil - 30 mg in 1 g of ointment. Him - anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating, regenerating effect. Reduces soreness, accelerates the healing of cracks in the anus and rectum... Stimulates the action of local immunity.
  • Fat base - petroleum jelly, wax and mineral oil (140 mg or 14% oil, 720 mg or 72% petroleum jelly, 12% natural beeswax). And also in small quantities - corn oil (0.2%), lanolin (2.3%), glycerol (2.5%), paraffin (0.5%), thyme oil (0.1%), vitamin E (0.05%).
  • Preservatives - propyl parahydroxybenzoate (0.1%), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (0.2%).

Relief ointment and suppositories help to reduce hemorrhoidal protrusions in the initial stage, before bleeding.

Relief Advance - anesthetic ointment

The main difference between Relief Advance and just Relief is the anabolic (benzocaine) content. According to the instructions, it is named the main active ingredient. Therefore, the main purpose of Relief Advance is to relieve hemorrhoids and protrusions. The analgesic effect of the Relief Advance composition is so well pronounced that it is used during proctological examinations and during the recovery period after proctological operations.

We list the components of the ointment:

  • Benzocaine - makes the membrane of the neuron impenetrable, thereby stopping the transmission of nerve impulses and forms an analgesic effect. It is in the ointment - the maximum amount among other components, except petroleum jelly (in 1 g - 200 mg or 20% of shark oil). In case of an overdose of benzocaine, drowsiness may form.
  • Shark Liver Oil - in its composition - only 30 mg or 3%.
  • Mineral oil - 120 mg or 12% oil.
  • Petrolatum - 610 mg or 61%.
  • Also traditional for many modern drugs preservatives - propylene glycol (20 mg or 2%), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (0,24%), sorbitan monostearate (1%), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (0,06%).

Relief Ultra - suppositories for the treatment of inflammation and pain

Relief Ultra is produced in the form of rectal suppositories. They contain the same set of auxiliary components and preservatives (shark liver oil, mineral oil, methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate), the main formative component (cocoa butter, 95%) and the main active ingredient is hydrocortisone (as acetate). Each suppository contains 10 mg (this is 0.5%), hydrocortisone and zinc (in the form of sulfate monohydrate - 11 mg or 0.55% in each candle).

Relief Ultra relieves inflammation. In addition to the treatment of hemorrhoids, it is used in the early postoperative period. (after proctological operations during the first 4-5 days - to prevent the inflammatory process).

This drug has additional contraindications... Candles should not be placed in case of any infection (bacterial, fungal, viral), including tuberculosis. And also during pregnancy, lactation and neoplasms. In case of an overdose, suppositories greatly reduce immunity, form a lack of calcium and osteoporosis.

Note: since Relief Ultra is produced in the form of suppositories, its introduction in the first days after the operation can be painful. Therefore, Ultra candles are combined with Advance ointment (first, they are anesthetized with the ointment, then a candle is injected).

Relief ointment: instructions for use

The instruction for the ointment regulates its use in the treatment of any manifestations of internal and external hemorrhoids. Namely:

  • From hemorrhoids (lumps, protrusions).
  • With cracks in the anus.
  • With itching and swelling of the skin of the anus.

Symptoms of itching, burning, and other signs of inflammation can appear not only with hemorrhoids. They can accompany other diseases of the rectum or perineum. Therefore, the use of Relief ointment is in demand after proctological operations, as well as for analgesic rectal diagnostics.

Ointment or candles Relief

The drug Relief is available in two forms - ointments and rectal suppositories. The choice of one form or another depends on the location of the hemorrhoidal cones and inflammation.

Ointment is a drug for the treatment of external nodes. Candles are a medicine for internal hemorrhoids... But the best treatment is not to choose between candles and ointments, but to combine their action with each other... Hemorrhoids do not know the boundaries between the walls of the rectum and the outer mucous membrane of the anus. External nodes are often accompanied by lumps in the rectum. Note: the analgesic effect of 1 suppository is equivalent to the effect of 1 g of ointment. And the vasoconstrictor - to 2 g of ointment (according to the content of benzocaine and shark liver fat). The combination of ointment and suppositories enhances their therapeutic effect by 95%.

Method of using Relief ointment for hemorrhoids

The main application of Relief ointment is for hemorrhoids. It is an external remedy for adults. Children can only use it after 12 years. Let's list the features of drug treatment.

  • The ointment should only be applied to clean skin.... Therefore, before that, it is necessary to thoroughly wash the anus and gently wipe it (until dry).
  • In order for the therapeutic effect to manifest itself as quickly and better as possible, the ointment must be kept on the hemorrhoidal bumps constantly... Therefore, the composition is applied in the morning and evening, as well as in the middle of the day (after going to the toilet and having a bowel movement).
  • How to apply the ointment? Remove the cap and attach the applicator to the tube. With the help of it, inject the ointment into the anus. After each use, rinse the applicator.
Important: a contraindication to treatment with Relief is thrombolytic disease. The drug narrows blood vessels and increases the likelihood of thrombus formation in thick blood.

How to use Relief ointment in cosmetology

Rectal ointment Relief has found unexpected applications in cosmetology. Indeed, if the composition of the ointment narrows blood vessels and regenerates new skin, then why not stimulate the restoration of facial skin cells and remove edema? Despite the lack of direct recommendations - to apply the ointment on the face (there is no such thing in the instructions), Relief is often used to prevent early wrinkles (mainly mimic ones), as well as from bags under the eyes.

The use of Relief ointment from puffiness under the eyes is explained by its anti-constricting effect. As a result of vasoconstriction, the area of \u200b\u200bedema is reduced, and sagging "bags" are reduced.

Ointment Relief under the eyes is applied at night... At the first application, the composition is mixed with baby cream. This will prevent unexpected allergic reactions ( redness or burning if there is, then a small one). If everything went without discomfort, the next time the composition is applied without mixing with the cream.

Face Relief Ointment is not suitable for oily acne skin. Ointment composition is the best nourishment for dry skin of the face or hands. For such skin, you can apply Relief ointment (from wrinkles and early fading).

A slight burning sensation, not a very pleasant smell - these are, perhaps, all the disadvantages of the ointment in relation to cosmetic purposes.

Note: in cosmetology, an analogue of Relief ointments is actively used - Heparin composition. However, it has a different effect - it accelerates blood flow and thus heals swelling and inflammation.

Pregnancy and lactation

Relief has no obvious contraindications to the treatment of pregnant women (they have not been found for several years of using the ointment). However, the instruction recommends that you be careful when using it during gestation.... The traditional wording is used that treatment with this drug during pregnancy is allowed when the risk from the disease is greater than the risk of possible complications from treatment.

Relief ointment for breastfeeding is also used only when urgently needed (the composition penetrates in small quantities into breast milk, its effect on the development of the child has not been fully studied).

Note: an allergic reaction (redness, rash, dermatitis in the anus) is possible, but rarely occurs.

Analogues of Relief ointment

One of the features of ointments with the trade name Relief (Ultra, Advance) is a rather high price. This forces us to look for other drugs with a similar effect and a more affordable price.

One of the main analogues of Relief - Heparin ointment... Relief or Heparin ointment - which is better?

Heparin is a substance that accelerates blood flow and thus heals various inflammations, edema, and bruising. The use of heparin for hemorrhoids is possible at the beginning of the disease, when the hemorrhoids have already formed, but are not yet bleeding. In later stages, when there are open wounds and foci of bleeding, the use of heparin will increase the flow of blood.

Note: one of the contraindications to the use of heparin ointment is that it cannot be applied to open wounds and cannot be used immediately after injury (blow, bruise).

Among other analogs - candles and Proctosan ointment (with the analgesic lidocaine).
