It always happens. It gets boring, but doesn't get boring. It's the same with Fry's books. You read his sagas about the fearless Max, and then you realize that the time has come to be distracted by another author. This is exactly what I did when I read the first three works of the cycle. While doing household chores, we are happy to be distracted by tea and cookies, a telephone conversation or a cigarette. These few minutes allow us to unwind and get a new boost of energy. When we get tired of sitting at home, we go on a trip, get distracted from problems, and then we arrive cheerful and joyful. It's the same with my "book holidays". Putting Fry aside for a while, I gladly returned to him and looked at my favorite characters with fresh eyes. I sincerely like Sir Max. True, his behavior is a little infuriating - he either eats, then drinks, then sleeps. But I myself am, to be honest, especially on weekends. In this sense, I am, perhaps, a serious competitor for him. I don't know why people write meaningful reviews for stuff like this. I don’t want to spoil them at all, there’s no need to destroy the magic of the Echo world. After such a book, the cockroaches in my head insistently demand: “One more dose of Fry, more, more!”. And it is impossible to resist this whim. And why, because my feelings are fully consistent with the emotions of cockroaches. I think they would be much better at writing without "spoilers". Today, many people prefer to listen to audiobooks. In general, I have nothing against it. It is very convenient, your eyes rest, you can do something else at the same time, or just lie down and relax. But with Fry this number did not work. When I tried to listen to the audiobook, I constantly felt that some details were slipping away from me. And how to write witty quotes? Fry's world turned out to be special, very cozy and homely, you don’t want to leave it at all. It is a pity that I discovered this writer only at the age of 19, and then quite by accident. But on the other hand, this is more of an adult fairy tale than a children's one. So, my dears, there is one simple secret in the recipe for delicious reading matter. The dish must be dosed so that there is no cloying and lumps of monotony. It is best to submit on paper. And, of course, with a dozen delicious chocolate muffins!

In the fourth book of the cycle, called "The Dark Side", the reader opens the veil of several secrets related to the appearance of Echo Max in the world. The story itself takes on a dynamic turn. Max finds himself on the Dark Side and, with amazement, discovers new incarnations in himself, feeling such power that he could not even think of before. The "too lively" character becomes someone more wise. He doesn't go with the flow anymore, and that's inspiring. The hero changes, develops, and with him the wonderful world of the book grows. The author's style, as always, is a delight. Simple things are described deliciously, and subtle subtexts are skillfully woven into a fascinating plot, so there is room for thought. And I love it. Feelings from this book are very warm, as if I met a good friend!

I was surprised to realize that I really missed Sir Max. I finished the previous book more than six months ago, and I found the time to continue reading just now! And I realized that I really missed this amazing world. Fry's books turn out to be somehow cozy, it is difficult to describe my impressions in a different way. Although they are just teeming with otherworldly evil creatures, there is no feeling that you are reading another story with monsters. Sir Max's family vicissitudes and the cheerful company led by Juffin give this book a completely different atmosphere. And at the same time, it is deeper than it seems at first glance. There were moments that I thought about for a long time. Both plots are very pleased, the stories seem unbanal and bright. Although, maybe I'm just bored. Well, it's just super - listen to your heart, not be afraid to be funny, go your own way! And the Menin Sword and the library are an absolute delight. So, emotions overwhelm me, so nothing coherent comes out. I write in fits and starts, but the impressions are really over the edge. I will definitely read the sequel!
