Cold shower for colds. How hardened people get sick: Cold water for colds

Is it true that shift workers have huge salaries?

In the Soviet years, when the development of the North had just begun, there were really high salaries. Many activities, especially those related to oil and gas production, involved working around the clock. As a result, many people came to the North, worked seven days a week for wear and tear, and then brought home a large amount of money.

However, now salaries are not at all the same as they used to be. On the job search site Jooble, shift workers are offered from 30 thousand per month.

Shift workers from Yugra and Yamal confirmed to FederalPress that their salaries start at 30,000 rubles. Of course, a lot depends on the company and the position. Most of all, according to shift workers, large enterprises and private traders pay. However, in the second case, there is a great risk of running into deception and generally being left without money.

“Maybe someone in the North has huge salaries. But I, as a worker, will say that salaries in Moscow are higher. An acquaintance of mine in the Moscow metro works as an electrician, so his salary is higher than mine, ”Viktor, a resident of Yoshkar-Ola, who has been working in Sabetta for many years as a mechanic of control and measuring devices, told FederalPress.

The shift workers themselves believe that the wages of workers on a rotational basis in Yugra and Yamal should be at least 100 thousand, taking into account the danger of work and difficult weather conditions.

“I worked in the installation of scaffolding. The whole shift - from November to February - worked on the street, collecting scaffolding. All work is dangerous, at a height. Much depends on us, but we receive it as a handyman. 60 thousand a month is really not enough, "says Konstantin, a shift worker at Velesstroy (Yamal).

What do shift workers do?

When people talk about shift workers, people imagine hard physical work. Most often these are assemblers of metal structures and structures made of reinforced concrete, electric welders, gas welders, argon workers, slingers, bricklayers, builders, finishers, drivers. However, these are not all vacancies. In the North, doctors, cooks, maids, commandants and many others can work on a rotational basis.

There are quite "comfortable" vacancies for people with higher education, which involve not physical, but intellectual work.

Linar Gallyamov, an employee of OJSC Kogalymneftegeofizika, has been working on a rotational basis since 2012. According to him, in the North you can achieve a good position if "there is education and a head on your shoulders."

“I started my journey in the North with an industrial practice. After graduating from university, I got to Kogalym. The specificity of my specialty lies in the exploration of wells, from drilling to operation. I am in this organization to this day, but now I occupy a leading position, "- said the interlocutor of FederalPress.

Are there women among the shift workers? Are there many of them?

There are women among workers on a rotational basis, but there are much fewer of them than men. These are most often cooks, doctors, storekeepers, maids, salesmen and cashiers.

At the same time, their wages are lower than that of men. According to Viktor, a shift worker from Sabetta, in one of the Yamal companies, maids and watchmen are offered a salary of 14 thousand rubles for 170 hours of work.

“This is under financial responsibility. They are responsible for linen, beds, bedside tables, household appliances in the rooms, ”said Victor.

On the positive side, women are usually provided with more comfortable living conditions than men. So, most often they are lodged in a room with a shower for two or three people. Whereas male shift workers often live in dorm trailers, where they have not done repairs for many years.

What will happen if the shift worker is ill? Do they have sick leave?

According to federal law, an employee on a rotational basis has the right to sick leave. However, as the shift workers themselves say, in reality everything turns out to be not so simple.

Shift worker Viktor from Yamal-LNG said that each company has its own conditions. “I had a toothache in April, I had to write a statement at my own expense and go to Novy Urengoy, and then go to a paid clinic there. Of course, it’s bad that there is no dentist in the Sabetta village polyclinic, ”Viktor said.

Igor, who worked on a rotational basis in Ugra and in Yamal, told FederalPress about a more egregious case. This year, on watch in Megion, his temperature rose to 40 degrees.

“I called an ambulance. The doctor advised me to stand under a cold shower. She said that it was a common cold, she also yelled at me that I had caused them in vain. She didn't even give an injection and left. And four days later it turned out that I had pneumonia. I had to go to the hospital, and then they put me in. The nurse still looked angrily: shift workers had come here, work and get medical treatment at their place. And the doctors reacted normally, tried. But as soon as I return home from my watch, I will definitely contact the OMS Fund about this. Let them know that they are paying for the inactivity of the ambulance, ”said Igor.

Another Ugra shift worker, Ilnar, noted that everything depends on the place where you work.

Is working in the North always difficult?

Working on a rotational basis is hard work, difficult weather conditions and living for a long time away from the family. This is confirmed by all shift workers interviewed by FederalPress. In the North, in winter, the air temperature drops to minus 50 degrees. Part of the work people have to do outdoors.

“Working in the North is certainly not easy. There is not enough sun, frost, wind. I am 18 in the North. It is heavier than somewhere in the middle lane, ”said Victor.

Another shift worker from Ugra, Igor, said that if he had the opportunity, he would choose a less dangerous and harmful job, but there are not many vacancies in the city where he lives. Working on a rotational basis, he said, he feels a negative health impact from the associated petroleum gas. So, he had skin irritation more than once.

“Plus, climate change. Lack of oxygen, palpitations, insomnia. You come home - the same thing until you get used to it. This is a constant stress for the body. After the shift for four days, you lie there, you don't get up, ”said Igor.

Shift worker Linar Gallyamov, whose working conditions are not so tough, said that the main difficulty for him is that he spends a long time away from his family.

“I'm tired of the constant departure. I would like to be with my family every day, sleep in my bed. You do not see how your children are growing. If there is a choice, then I would not recommend going to the North, ”Linar said.

However, there are those who like working on a rotational basis.

“In general, everything is good. This is a test for real men. I am an occupational safety engineer. It’s not hard work for me, ”shift worker Gleb Fedotov, who worked at Yamal-LNG for three years, told FederalPress. He added that he was completely satisfied with both the salary and living conditions.

In general, there are many pros and cons to working on a rotational basis. Many people compare this work with Russian roulette. Those who are lucky live in comfortable conditions and receive a large salary. Those who are unlucky can not only run into a fraudulent employer and run out of money, but also undermine their health. The main thing, experienced shift workers advise, is to carefully read the labor contract and calculate your strength.

However, doctors have their own point of view on this matter.

Colds: Causes and Symptoms

Features of the development of the disease

The common cold is called viral diseases with a certain set of symptoms. The most common causes of colds are hypothermia, lowered immunity and, of course, the pathogenic viruses themselves.

Hypothermia itself would not have caused a cold without the virus. But when we freeze, immunity weakens, it is easier for viruses to attack the cells of the body.

The main reason why people are afraid of getting sick with ARVI is not its danger or complications, but an unpleasant condition when it is difficult to breathe, eat, sleep. Often, working people do not take sick leave because of a cold and they have to endure the illness on their feet.

There are a huge number of folk recipes for colds and advice on whether to shower for a cold, how to eat and drink properly.

Everybody knows the symptoms of a cold. However, they can change depending on the strength of the disease, the virus itself, the organism:

  • Cough and sore throat. A cold may begin with this symptom, or it may not occur at all throughout the illness. The throat turns red, hurts, it hurts to swallow and speak, there is a perspiration, cough, which intensifies at night.
  • Nasal congestion, sneezing, profuse mucus. A cold cannot do without this symptom. Nasal congestion manifests itself in different ways, for some it is a complete inability to breathe through the nose, severe swelling that goes away only with the help of sprays and drops, while for others it is a tolerable condition when it is even possible to do without medication. The secretion of mucus also has varying degrees. Sometimes the disease is limited to edema.
  • Temperature. The temperature does not always appear, but if it is, then with ARVI it is low, 37.2 - 37.5. The increased body temperature lasts for about 2-3 days, after which it should subside. If it continues for up to a week, we can talk about a bacterial infection, which is usually treated with antibiotics.
  • Weakness, body aches. An unpleasant symptom, when the whole body aches, fatigue, drowsiness appears, it is difficult to quickly respond and think. Usually it manifests itself on the second - third day of illness, and then decreases.

Shower for a cold: when and how to do it right

Water treatments and colds

Many remember from childhood that mothers were forbidden to wash during illness. No matter how long it lasted, you could only soar your feet, but not wash. Doctors consider such restrictions unreasonable.

During colds, we sweat a lot, drink tea with raspberries and other diaphoretic remedies. Sweat clogs pores. It becomes more difficult for the body to eliminate toxins. Therefore, it is imperative to wash to cleanse the pores, but it must be done correctly.

How to take a shower for a cold:

  • The water temperature should not be very high, preferably not higher than body temperature. This will avoid unnecessary overheating and increased heat.
  • You can take a shower and a bath. We usually do not stand in the shower for long, but in the bath you can lie as long as you like. But it is not recommended to do this during illness. Excessive moisture is harmful, it increases the formation of phlegm, a strong cough or increased flow of mucus from the nose may begin.
  • It is possible and even beneficial to take a shower in the heat. Doctors think so. A warm shower can help reduce fever, relieve the condition, and lower the temperature. However, it is desirable that it was just a shower and by no means hot. After a shower, it is important to avoid hypothermia. You need to thoroughly dry yourself with a towel and put on warm socks and a bathrobe.
  • When you're going to shower, don't forget a shower cap. Washing your hair during a cold is not as beneficial as washing your body. Hair dries for a long time, which leads to hypothermia, you can get into a draft and catch a cold even more. If you wash your hair, immediately wrap it in a towel and then dry it with a hairdryer.
  • It is better to take a shower or bath not in the morning, but at night, so that after water procedures, immediately put on warm socks and lie under the covers.
  • You can add herbs to the bath, for example, chamomile, St. John's wort. This is not only good for the skin, but also serves as an inhalation to clear phlegm from the lungs.

Contraindications and common mistakes

Bathing during a cold can be harmful if you do not follow the rules or there are certain contraindications:

  • So, for example, people with diseases of the heart and blood vessels should not take hot baths in general, and even more so with weakened immunity and colds.
  • You can not take baths for people with varicose veins, heart failure, high blood pressure, as well as impaired blood circulation in the brain. However, a shower is still not contraindicated. If you rinse quickly and not with hot water, there will be no harm.
  • It is worth remembering that any bath is a load on the heart. Hot water increases pressure and stress on blood vessels. If your heart is already weak, replace the bath with a shower. It is useful during colds. If you chose a bath, do not lie in it for more than 20 minutes.
  • Do not mix bath and alcohol. We often hear such advice as “you need to warm up with vodka, and then immediately your feet soar”. This is completely wrong. It is one thing to take a shower before going to bed, and another to take thermal baths after strong drinks. Alcohol does not cure disease; it weakens the body and immunity. Sometimes they drink mulled wine to keep warm, but this does not apply to viral diseases in full swing. Moreover, it is not recommended to take a bath or steam feet after alcohol. This can lead to sudden pressure drops.
  • You can not take hot baths with diabetes. They can cause a drop in blood sugar levels. However, a shower is also not contraindicated.
  • No need to get carried away with taking a bath during pregnancy. If a pregnant woman has a cold, you can take a warm shower or warm bath for no more than 5-10 minutes with the permission of the doctor. Soaring your feet and taking hot baths is strictly prohibited. They can provoke a miscarriage.

I've just caught a cold, but I'm afraid to take a shower. And a bath too. At this time, my temperature rises immediately from the shower and bath, and I am sick more. But so the desire to lie down in a hot bath!

I read that you need to take a bath with soda at the first sign of a cold, that soda removes harmful toxins from the body and helps prevent illness. I have not tried this method yet, for some reason I am afraid of a greater development of the disease from taking a bath. Maybe someday I'll take a chance ...

Better to eat soda with tablespoons - two packs, I think, will be enough. No toxins will come out, all the same, that way, that way (if there are so many toxins in a person that they need to be removed, his liver has failed, and he will be pumped up to live), but there will be fewer tales about magic, damn it, soda on the Internet.

Much more toxins are eliminated through the skin than through the liver.

When I have a sore throat and a cold in general, I take a bath with essential oils. This is usually eucalyptus or peppermint oil. I leave the bathroom more healthy.

While I myself grew up on the advice not to bathe with a cold (and steam at the same time), I agree that a light rinse with lukewarm water in the shower is helpful to wash away perspiration. The head, of course, needs to be washed with care.

I think that a warm shower or a hot bath for colds is not only not harmful, but even useful. I add 1-2 drops of fir oil to the water, for a runny nose and cough - that's it. The main thing is to avoid drafts!

I was always tormented by this question to swim or not to swim when I have a cold. There are a lot of disagreements about this. Well, I still think that you don't need to swim at high temperatures.

If a cold starts, I can only rinse myself in the shower. I make water at room temperature. Soaring feet, if there is a temperature, should not in any case! At the first symptoms, I try to drink antiviral. If a cough starts, I do inhalation. In addition, I take Sinorm balm. The preparation contains herbal extracts, so the balm is excellent for strengthening the immune system. The main thing is to start treating colds on time. Usually in 3-4 days everything goes away.

During colds, I try to limit the intake of water treatments. More than once I noticed that after washing the hair, the healing process is somewhat delayed, it is better to wait a little.

For me, colds have never been a limiting factor for taking water treatments. On the contrary, when you take a warm shower, it somehow becomes even morally easier, not only physically. So I'm in favor!)

I take a shower, but if I have a cold, I need to dry myself thoroughly. For me personally, a shower helps a lot. After a shower, I advise you to dress warmly and stay further away from the door, even if it's summer

I am an opponent of a shower with a cold, and even more so with a heat. I think it is better to be patient before the state of health improves. If necessary, you can simply wipe off with a warm, wet towel.

Hot bath for colds

Is it possible to swim and wash your hair with a cold and runny nose

In our country, people often suffer from colds. Many of them prefer to be treated at home.

In this regard, a huge variety of myths have arisen around the common cold. So, one of them says that you cannot swim during illness.

Allegedly, water procedures negatively affect health and can seriously aggravate the symptoms of a viral disease. However, it should be noted that doctors have their own views on this issue.

Causes and symptoms of a cold

Common cold is called viral diseases, which are accompanied by a certain set of symptoms. The most common and obvious causes of the disease are:

  1. hypothermia;
  2. reduced immune defense;
  3. pathogenic microorganisms.

Hypothermia by itself is not capable of starting a cold. But when a person is cold, his immunity weakens, it becomes several times easier for viruses to attack the cells of the body.

Everyone is afraid of catching a cold. Not only does the disease impair the patient's well-being, does not allow him to sleep and breathe normally, it is fraught with dangerous complications. This problem is especially relevant for those people who do not have the opportunity to stay at home during the period of illness and have to “endure” colds on their feet.

The symptoms of colds are known to absolutely everyone. First of all, we are talking about coughing and sore throat. The throat hurts, turns red, swells. It is very difficult for a person to talk, swallow food and saliva. The cough and discomfort are usually worse at night. In addition, active sneezing begins, abundant mucus secretion, nasal congestion appear.

Stuffing your nose can be done in different ways. If in one patient, congestion gives a powerful edema, does not allow breathing through the nose and forces the use of various:

The other's condition is so tolerant that there is no need to use the named drugs.

Allocations can also be of a different nature. Sometimes a cold is limited only to swelling of the mucous membrane.

The general body temperature does not always rise with a cold. Moreover, in many patients it is within 37-37.5 degrees. If the cold proceeds without complications, after 2-3 days the temperature should pass. When this does not happen, the temperature lasts for a week or more, the doctor will suspect a bacterial infection. It requires a different treatment tactics and the use of a course of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

Even with a cold, as with a flu, a person is tormented by:

It is problematic for the patient to react quickly, he is worried about body aches.

How to take a shower for a cold

Almost every second person will say with confidence that for the duration of a cold and with a runny nose, it is better to give up water procedures and taking a shower. Many people argue about whether it is possible to soar your feet at a temperature, but this can not always be done. What do therapists say about this?

With a cold, the patient sweats a lot, because he takes diaphoretic drinks and other means. And sweat clogs the pores, it becomes more difficult for the body to remove the waste products of viruses and accumulated toxins. For this reason, washing the body with a cold is imperative! However, this should be done correctly. This is the only way to get the maximum benefit from the procedure.

So, the water temperature should be low. Optimally, it should not be higher than the human body temperature. This is important for high-quality cleaning of pores, preventing overheating and further increasing the heat.

It is necessary and useful to wash under a warm shower. Such washing will help:

Hypothermia should not be allowed after bathing. Therefore, you should quickly wipe yourself off with a towel, put on a warm robe and socks. Doctors insist that you should wear a shower cap while swimming. Washing your hair during this period is not as beneficial as cleansing the body. Hair, especially long hair, dries out for a very long time, which leads to hypothermia of the body.

If the patient decides to wash his hair, dry it with a hairdryer or wrap it in a bath towel.

Contraindications and common mistakes

The doctor will not allow every patient to wash during a cold. Sometimes water procedures cause aggravation of the disease and the development of complications. The main contraindications include:

  1. diseases of blood vessels, heart;
  2. varicose veins, high blood pressure;
  3. taking alcohol and drugs based on it.

When a person has a history of heart and vascular ailments, bathing in hot water for a cold can cause excessive stress on these organs. Such patients need to rinse quickly.

It is forbidden to combine water procedures and alcoholic beverages. Advice that says that you need to warm up with vodka before a shower or bath is dangerous. Until now, no disease has been cured with the help of alcohol. It is not a medicine, and moreover, it only weakens the immune defenses and the body as a whole.

Sometimes, in order to warm up or prevent a cold, doctors recommend drinking hot mulled wine for colds. The same should be done with the flu. But the recipe of the drink is developed in such a way that alcoholic vapors evaporate during the preparation of mulled wine, and only useful substances remain in it.

It is forbidden to soar your legs after drinking alcohol. This will provoke:

  1. sharp drops in blood pressure;
  2. increased heat in the body.

Do not get carried away with hot showers during pregnancy. With the permission of the doctor, you can take a cool shower, but no longer than 5-10 minutes. It is impossible for such patients to soar their legs, even if there is no high temperature.

Features of taking a bath

What about the bathroom? Should you wash your body in a bath for colds and flu? Indications for such water procedures will be:

There are also important limitations. As in the case of a shower, it is impossible to wash in the bathroom if the patient has heart disease, blood vessels, varicose veins, he has high blood pressure or temperature.

Even if swimming with a cold and a runny nose is allowed, one should not forget about the mandatory observance of certain rules. So, it is very important to monitor the temperature of the liquid in the bath. The water should be exactly warm, not hot. This is especially true with subfebrile body temperature. Ideally, the water temperature should be:

If the bath is hot, the patient will feel dizzy and have a headache. Cold water will complicate the disease.

An equally pressing issue is the air temperature in the bathroom during bathing. The maximum indicator is considered to be 65 percent humidity. If this figure is higher, mucous secretions accumulate in the airways. It reduces the effectiveness of cough and runny nose treatments.

When the patient does not have the opportunity to control the humidity indicator, it is not possible to wash for more than a minute. This time should be sufficient to achieve the therapeutic effect of the procedure.

It will not be superfluous to adhere to certain hours for swimming. It is best to wash in the second half of the day, before bedtime. After swimming for colds and runny nose, it is possible and useful to drink a glass of warm milk with honey, mint tea.

After bathing, you must not go outside, especially in the cold season. You must be in a warm room. Otherwise, repeated hypothermia and worsening of the cold will occur.

In case of a cold, it is better not to wash your head and hair. As already mentioned, if you cannot do without this, you should wash your hair quickly. After the hair is dried with a hairdryer. It is dangerous to get into a draft with a wet head. A new round of colds will be provided.

What to add to water

To wash your body with even greater benefits, you will need to add aromatic oils to the water. It will turn out to make a kind of inhalation, which will have a positive effect on the patient's well-being. Herbs and oils can be used:

The proposed plants are characterized by powerful anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects.

Additionally, you can wash in the bathroom with special additives. They will help to quickly get rid of the disease. Mustard powder is good. It is quite enough to dissolve 100 grams of powder in one glass of warm water. After that, the mustard solution is added to the water bath. Mustard will help relieve coughing attacks, tone the body, and ease the course of rhinitis.

It is useful to add a mixture of crushed garlic and ginger to the bath. This healing mass is able to strengthen the immune defense, eliminate multiple symptoms of colds. The recipe is simple: chop a small head of garlic, wrap it in gauze or thin cotton, and put it in a bath of water. Ginger is also chopped, boiled with boiling water and left to infuse for 20 minutes. After that, the solution is poured into a bath of water.

You should wash your body and head in such healing water for no longer than 15 minutes. At the end of the procedure, it will not hurt to rinse under a warm shower and dry yourself with a towel. To enhance the beneficial effect on the body, it will not hurt to drink after bathing:

  1. hot ginger tea;
  2. herbal tea (with medicinal plants);
  3. milk with natural honey.

In cases where the cold has dragged on, it is worth refusing to take a bath and do not bathe in the shower. You cannot do without the obligatory consultation of a doctor. If this is not done, you can forget about a speedy recovery and return to a fulfilling life. To understand how to deal with a cold, we recommend watching the video in this article.

Is it okay to take a hot bath when you are sick? Runny nose and a little sore throat. No temperature.

Answers:

Margarita Demina

The first thing to remember. Treatment is effective when it is applied at the first sign of infection. A moderately hot bath with a few drops of antiviral essential oil usually induces profuse sweating followed by deep, restful sleep. therefore, I want to remind you that after a bath you must go to bed immediately. Often this is enough to stop the development of the disease, but nevertheless, it is worth taking a bath for another two to three days! It is better to use ravensar and tea tree oils. but if you do not have these oils, you can use lavender and eucalyptus oil (3 drops each for one bath). By the way, a very effective recipe for colds is a bath with MUSTARD (oddly enough it sounds ... you can hover not only your feet). Pour a glass of dry mustard into a linen bag and lower it into a bath with a water temperature of 36 degrees. The duration of the procedure is 10 minutes. And further. Brew 4 tablespoons of chamomile in 0.5 liters of water and drink at a time. The next day, in addition to procedures with essential oils, it is necessary to take 1-3 drops of eucalyptus or fir essential oils with honey and drink lemon juice three to four times a day. Look like that's it. Good health to you!

No, not in any case, just rub-downs. Because of my work, I have to wash myself, so then the cough does not go away for half a year.

I think that it is impossible - a hot bath will increase blood circulation, and this will contribute to the rapid spread of infection throughout the body. It is better to rinse your nose with salt water and gargle with Lugol's solution, and in extreme cases, take antibiotics 🙂

If there is no temperature, there will be no harm.

Personally, I accept. only then I quickly wipe myself off, dry myself and dive into a warm bed, so as not to get even more cold.

No hot bath, no hot tea. Aspirinchik (the first intake of 1 gram further on the 1st table) with lukewarm milk and rinse the neck with lukewarm water and baking soda. Don't lean out into the street.

Soaring feet for colds, coughs and runny nose: mustard bath

Soaring your feet for a cold is very effective, but in order for the procedure to bring maximum therapeutic effect, it must be performed correctly.

Should you float your legs when coughing? If so, how to do it? The most common illnesses for which hot mustard baths are recommended for the feet are flu and colds.

However, medicinal baths can be taken at home for other diseases as well.

How to soar your feet with a cold, and what does this procedure give? This is the topic that will be discussed in this article.

How a foot bath works and when to use it

The action of a foot bath with mustard is elementary:

  1. Hot water warms up the lower limbs.
  2. The vessels of the legs expand, and blood rushes to them.
  3. This causes blood to drain from the inflamed organs (head, chest, sinuses, trachea and bronchi).
  4. Breathing becomes freer.
  5. In the sinuses, swelling and inflammation are reduced
  6. The cough recedes.

Is it possible to soar legs with rhinitis, runny nose at home? If a person is chilled at a bus stop, waiting for the bus, or is caught in the pouring rain and wet his feet, in the morning he will definitely wake up with a stuffy nose and a strong cough. These are the first signs of a cold.

Therefore, you should not wait for their appearance, and when you come home, you need to immediately prepare a foot bath with the addition of mustard. After that, you should take a hot drink with honey and lemon, go to bed and sweat well. In this case, no cold is terrible.

With a runny nose, a hot bath with mustard makes breathing easier, soothes the burning sensation in the mucous membrane. When coughing without fever, a properly prepared bath with mustard (salt) helps to liquefy phlegm and remove it from the bronchi.

A dry, tearful cough turns into a moist and soft cough.

When you still need foot baths

Plus, a hot mustard foot bath will help relieve fatigue after a hard day's work. The water does not need to be warmed up to the point If very hot water causes discomfort, the temperature can be reduced to as comfortable as possible.

However, it will be correct to place a container of hot water near you and, as the liquid in the bath cools down, increase the temperature by adding water.

In case of insomnia, you should not do too hot procedures for the legs. In this case, the temperature can be increased gradually so that the legs are not uncomfortable. This procedure will be done correctly at night.

A hot foot bath can be used to remove old calluses from the feet. Steamed leather is much easier to process. It will be correct after such a manipulation to lubricate the legs with cream, put plastic bags on them, on top - socks and give the limbs a rest.

Contraindications for taking foot baths

It turns out that it is dangerous to warm your feet with baths in some cases.

You cannot perform this procedure:

  • at elevated temperatures;
  • during pregnancy, water can only be heated to a moderate state;
  • in case of hypertension and other diseases of the cardiovascular system, the legs can be soared only if the doctor gave the go-ahead.

Meanwhile, even with a hypertensive crisis, hot foot procedures are used to drain blood from the head. This is how you can protect yourself from a stroke, that is, use the method as an emergency measure to reduce pressure in the head.

But this procedure leads to increased heart rate, which is an additional burden on the heart. Therefore, there is no definite answer to this question. Whether or not to warm up the legs with hypertension - the decision remains with the attending physician.

Children need to soar their feet with mustard with extreme caution. If the child is not hyperactive and disciplined, thermal procedures for the lower extremities can be started from the age of 5.

Just don't make the water too hot. By the way, the reader will be interested in whether it is possible to take a steam bath in case of a cold, since we have touched on the topic of baths.

The procedure should not bring discomfort and physical suffering to the child. After the session, he should be put to bed, where the child should sweat thoroughly.

How to soar your feet

It is good if the water reaches right to the knees during the procedure. Therefore, it is better to use a wide bucket or even a large tub for taking a foot bath. First you need to prepare everything so that later you do not run on the cold floor with wet and steamed legs.

  1. Place a bucket or jug of boiling water next to the water container.
  2. At an accessible distance, put a towel, foot cream, warm socks.
  3. The initial temperature in the pelvis should be 38
  4. After immersing your feet in the container, you need to wait a couple of minutes, after which you can add a little boiling water from the jug.
  5. After 2-3 minutes, do it again.

Thus, the legs gradually get used to hot water and the person does not feel a burning sensation. The duration of the procedure should be minutes. Then you need to dry your feet well with a towel, lubricate your feet with cream and put on warm socks.

After taking a foot bath, you should go to bed and sweat well. There will be no trace of the approaching cold.

If the patient's condition is satisfactory, a pedicure can be done after the bath, since the skin on the feet is steamed and keratinized areas will be easily removed.

What to add to water

To enhance the healing effect, you need to use not plain water, but with all kinds of additives.

The most popular and effective remedy is mustard. Dry powder is poured into hot water and the feet are immersed in it. For colds, this procedure is very effective, but after it the person must wrap up, lie down and sweat.

This method can be combined with mustard plasters. Mustard, irritating skin receptors, causes blood flow to the superficial epithelium, thereby stimulating the immune system.

The dosage of the powder is as follows: for 1000 ml of water, you need to take one tablespoon of the product.

To relieve inflammation and rapid healing of ulcers, small wounds and cracks, a manganese solution is used. The water for the procedure should have a bright pink color. Do not be alarmed when the skin on your legs darkens after taking such a bath. This phenomenon is temporary and completely normal. After 2-3 days, the skin will return to its natural color.

Essential oils are considered an excellent additive for foot baths. The effect is that the oils are absorbed through the skin, which is a kind of treatment. At the same time, steam emanating from a container of water rises and enters the respiratory tract, facilitating the discharge of thick sputum.

Most often, essential oils are used for such purposes:

Herbal teas added to hot water also provide inhalation. In this case, you can use those medicinal herbs that are used for coughing:

In fact, there are a lot of supplements and they are all aimed at strengthening the immune system and fighting the first signs of a cold. But how to properly soar your feet and other "buns" for foot baths - in the video in this article.

Can i take a hot bath at a temperature? This question is asked by many people, especially in the autumn-winter period, when colds epidemics begin. Of course, each of us knows that bathing has a beneficial effect on the body. However, what if a person is sick? Can I take a bath or shower for a cold? According to most doctors, it is very necessary to swim in this state. Moreover, some aesculapians wonder where the opposite opinion came from. After all, asking the question of whether it is possible to wash at a temperature, we do not know how long the painful condition will last. But no one has yet canceled personal hygiene. In addition, with a cold, a person sweats more than usual, and a bath or shower will wash off the sweat and allow the skin to breathe. In addition, even an ordinary daily wash can be turned into a therapeutic herbal medicine session.

Swimming at a temperature: is it possible or not

As it turned out, you can still swim at temperatures. True, so that the procedure does not harm, you will need to comply with a number of conditions.

  1. Bath and alcohol cannot be combined. Even ordinary mulled wine, which, according to some healers, relieves the symptoms of a cold, should not be consumed in the bathroom. And in general, it is better to be treated not with alcohol, but with herbal decoctions or warm milk with honey (if there is no allergy to bee products).
  2. Can i take a hot bath at a temperature? All doctors answer this question in the same way: no. The thing is that hot baths put a heavy load on the heart and the entire body. And in this case, all forces must be mobilized to fight the disease. Best of all, if the temperature of the water in the bath will be ° C.
  3. Asking yourself the question of whether you can wash at a temperature, you should remember that the duration of the procedure should be limited. Indeed, in the bathroom, as a rule, there is high humidity, and this will negatively affect the weakened body. Due to a long stay in a humid room, the amount of mucus in the nasopharynx increases, and as a result, cough and runny nose are aggravated.
  4. Most people, when asking whether it is possible to wash at a temperature, ask the question a little incorrectly. It would be more correct to find out when is the best time to take a bath. And it is advisable to carry out the procedure immediately before going to bed, so that after the procedures, immediately go to bed and not overcool. After water procedures, it is advisable to drink warm milk with tea or chamomile broth.

When swimming is undesirable

As you already understood, doctors give a positive answer to the question of whether it is possible to take a bath at a temperature. However, in some cases, it is more advisable to postpone water procedures until better times. So, bathing is undesirable if the person with fever has a history of hypertension, circulatory disorders, and vascular diseases.

Warming bath

Can I take a bath at a temperature? Unfortunately, heating baths are contraindicated in this case, since overheating can cause an even greater rise in temperature. In other cases, such procedures will be very useful. For a warming bath, 4-5 cloves of garlic are pressed through a press, 70 g of ginger root is rubbed on a grater. If there is no fresh root, it is replaced with dry ground ginger, which is sold in every supermarket in the spice section. The crushed mass is poured into 250 ml of boiling water, covered with a lid and insisted for half an hour, then filtered through a sieve. The crushed garlic is placed in cheesecloth and tied in a knot. Pour ginger infusion into warm water for a bath and put gauze with garlic. The duration of such a procedure is a minute. The main thing is to make sure that the water does not get too cold.

Anti-cold bath with essential oils

The recipe for a fragrant anti-cold composition will be relevant for those who are interested in whether it is possible to take a bath at a temperature. So, 30 ml of olive oil is poured into a bowl and 5-6 drops of essential oils of orange, sage and tea tree are added to it. A drop of cinnamon oil is also introduced there. The mixture is stirred and a glass of sea salt is added. The resulting mass is poured into the bath when filling. This kind of treatment can be carried out for no more than 20 minutes.

Anti-cold bath with herbal infusion

Such a bath, thanks to the emanating healing vapors, acts, among other things, as an inhalation. It, like the previous one, is suitable for people who are interested in the question of whether it is possible to take a bath at a temperature. In an enamel saucepan, mix 10 g of sage, chamomile, linden flowers, St. John's wort and mint. The resulting collection is brewed with a liter of boiling water and allowed to boil for a couple of minutes. Then they wrap it up with a towel and insist for another half hour. In the meantime, they are taking a bath. Over time, the ready-made infusion is poured into the bathing water. If there are no contraindications, then 7-10 drops of coniferous essential oil can be added to the bath.

Anti-cold bath for people with varicose veins

People with varicose veins should take hot baths with caution. Moreover, most of the procedures are contraindicated for them. However, the recipe below was developed taking into account the nature of the disease and is recommended for patients with varicose veins. So, they prepare chamomile, willow bark, St. John's wort and oak bark. All in equal amounts. Next, measure 6-7 tbsp. l. mixture and brewed with boiling water. Let it brew for 40 minutes, after which it is poured into prepared water for washing. Take a bath for a minute, making sure that the water does not cool down. If you want the procedure to be more pleasant and give the effect of inhalation, you can add 10 drops of eucalyptus oil.

How hardened people get sick: Cold water for colds. I am sure that many people will disagree with me. Do you know why? Because we have stable stereotypes from childhood. When we were constantly wrapped up and warned “don't go without a hat”, “don't sit in a draft”, etc. I learned a long time ago that cold water cures colds. Back in the 80s of the last century, my wife treated our children for chronic colds with cold water. Then Tolkachev's book "Physical culture against illness" was published. I have not seen a more complete guide to hardening. It describes very well the procedures for treating children and adults with cold water and fresh air. I began to harden with cold water only at the age of 55. It was during these years that it dawned on me that the body trains well and adapts to various conditions. You will pity him and pamper him and he will be weak and sick. And you start to temper and train him and he will temper and become stronger. If with training you can objectively assess your progress, then how to determine the degree of your hardening? I must say right away that diving into an ice-hole is not an indicator for me. Many at Epiphany swim in ice water and nothing. As a rule, such bathing does not lead to colds. You often catch cold in more comfortable conditions. It happened to me either when my feet got wet in the spring or when you get out of a heated car without a hat into the breeze. I made my conclusion about the benefits of hardening by the fact that I practically stopped catching a cold. And if I get sick, the illness goes away relatively easily. And cold water again helps me to heal. I no longer use pills and rinses. As an example, I will give a short diary of my cold in March 2015. And then I'll tell you about how I practically temper. Diary of my illness. The first day. Today is Monday and I seem to be sick. And it pleases. It would seem what to rejoice at? This is a great occasion to test my body. I am an experimenter by nature and for several years now I have been trying different methods of healing. How long will I be sick? So heavy? Until recently, I definitely suffered from angina 2-3 times a year. Now these colds have become less and less common. Let's see how this will proceed after two years of dousing with cold water. I don't know how long the incubation period lasted. Looks like it started on March 8, Sunday. At 6 am I was already in the pool and spent a total of 1.5 hours in the water. First I went scuba diving at 4 m depth, cleaning the bottom. Then he swam for an hour, trained. After the pool, I came home and immediately went for a run. I have a triathlon preparation cycle. I wanted to check how I would run after swimming. I ran for 2 hours, ran 21 kilometers. Dressed quite lightly - a long-sleeved T-shirt. Not cold, but it was not particularly warm either. The temperature is about 0 degrees and at times there is a strong headwind. Today I went to the bathhouse. Already in the morning there was some kind of slight malaise. Before the bath, I did exercises with a kettlebell in the sun. Was in a light turtleneck and without a hat. In the bath, I noticed signs of a sore throat. And he was even delighted. So let's see how a hardened body will fight infection. Monday evening. Viruses are coming. The sore throat was clearly felt. And from past experience, this means that the throat will hurt in the morning. I brewed wild rose berries in a thermos for the night. And before going to bed I drank 0.5 liters of this broth with honey. All night, then went to the toilet. And even before going to bed, he rinsed his face with cold water. Several times, and at the same time, I massaged my nose well with my thumbs. This helped to clear the nasal passages. He also anointed his nose and underneath it with a cold balm from Thailand. All procedures made it possible to breathe well, falling asleep. The night passed calmly. Second day. Tuesday. Usually the morning after the onset of a cold, my throat hurts, so it hurts to swallow. And today, only a slight perspiration. This gives hope that I am really a seasoned person. I waited until 11 o'clock, when the sun was already shining and went for a run. In the beginning, the strength was there. But, I ran about two kilometers and was overwhelmed by weakness and laziness. I decided to relax by walking. It was about 10 degrees. The sun was warm, and I just enjoy the fact that you can go and not run anywhere. I thought about my working moments, about trainings. He took off his hat and sunbathed in the sun. In the first spring, this really warm sun. After the run, I fell down to lie down, because the weakness would not let go. Then I went to work, but I will not say that I was comfortable. Slight pain in the temples and in the bridge of the nose. At times snot accumulated and a cough began. Sometimes the coughing fit was severe. And then from work, when I arrived, I went to sleep again, because there was no other way. Complete lack of energy and desire to do something. Bad appetite. How bad it is to be sick, but at the same time there is a feeling that I am not as sick as before. Day three. Wednesday. My intermediate conclusion: I have become hardened and the cold is in a milder version. Simple morning douches with cold water are effective. Today was the 3rd day since I caught a cold. Before going to bed I took a shower with cold-cold water. I paid special attention to rinsing my face with cold water. I also did the woodcutter exercise, which stimulates diaphragmatic breathing. Exercise "woodcutter" I. p. Legs are wider than shoulders, arms above. As if holding an ax. Breathe in. You bend sharply with the “ax” down and your hands between your legs and exhale sharply. When you exhale, you draw in your stomach and say “Ha”. And so several times. At the same time, sputum from the bronchi is well cleared out. I didn't really succeed, although I tried. Although there is still a slight French accent. The process is clearly on the mend. What makes you happy? This is something that does not hurt the throat and hurt very little. As if warning, "take action, viruses are already close." Therefore, we will temper further so that I do not have these minor colds. Actually, there is no longer any cold, so I went for a run. Such an easy, comfortable run. It is immediately felt that the body has strength. When I tried to run on the 2nd day of a cold, it was noticeable that I had very little strength. Now I was running comfortably and relaxed. I ran to the horizontal bars. Did exercises for the press, shoulders, pull-ups. The amount of energy in the body was overwhelming. Although there is still a slight hoarseness and nasal congestion. A nice plus of running is that with it all this comes out of you. Breathing is cleared and phlegm is coughing up from the bronchi. If I had not gone to run, it is not known how long she would have sat there. Therefore, physical activity in the fresh air is simply necessary in the process of recovery and treatment of acute respiratory diseases. But actually on this my cold can be considered complete. Life has improved. So, it turned out that it takes two days to fight a cold. On Monday night, I somehow felt uneasy. Tuesday and Wednesday I was ill, but there was no bed rest. If possible, I slept quite a lot and went to bed early. He drank a lot, doused a lot with cold water and no medicine. That's all the treatment. Water procedures at elevated temperatures

A person may have a fever during a cold or other illness. In this case, you should be careful, as some actions can increase it even more. It is not forbidden to carry out water procedures, but doctors advise against taking a bath.

Hot water negatively affects the human condition at elevated temperatures. This is due to the fact that under its influence, temperature indicators can increase. This leads to the fact that the disease begins to progress. Therefore, people are advised to refrain from taking a bath during colds with fever.

But going to the shower is not prohibited. Although even it must be abandoned if the temperature has risen to 39 degrees. In this case, it is best to seek medical attention.

When a person takes a shower with a high temperature, he needs to do it quickly, he should not be under running water for a long time. After this procedure, you should wipe yourself dry, and then wrap yourself well and go under a warm blanket. To warm up even more, you can drink tea or milk with the addition of honey.

It is better not to wet your head while taking a shower. Even if a person does not feel well, do not wash with cool water. This can lead to the fact that the disease will only worsen. The water should be warm, not very hot. If a person went to the shower, his body should not be hypothermic.

But with a cold or flu, nevertheless, doctors advise to abandon water procedures. When the body is exposed to hot water, it heats up, which provokes the active development of infection. When the lungs become inflamed, or sore throat develops, then you cannot wash.

Some rules

Although taking a shower is not prohibited at elevated temperatures, there are some rules to keep in mind. Indeed, the body is fighting the disease. If you incorrectly carry out water procedures, you can worsen your condition.

If you take a bath or shower during illness, you need to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • It is forbidden to combine the bath with alcoholic beverages. A large number of people drink mulled wine or other alcohol when sick. Doctors do not support such treatment. It is recommended to give up alcohol, and use traditional or folk methods in the fight against the disease. If a person decides to drink an alcoholic drink, then he should remember that this should not be done in the bath.
  • When the temperature rises, you should forget about hot water. Otherwise, it will begin to increase even more, which will negatively affect the human condition. The water should have a temperature of about 34-38 degrees.
  • You should stay in the bathroom for as little time as possible. Indeed, this room has a fairly high air humidity. In the house, it should be about 45-65%. But during the period when they begin to heat the premises, it decreases significantly, which negatively affects human health, he is susceptible to colds. But even with an increase in these indicators, the disease can develop. High humidity provokes more mucus in the nasopharynx and throat. This leads to the fact that there is an exacerbation of the common cold. For this reason, doctors advise spending less time in the bathroom. To reduce moisture in it, you can open the door.

Taking a bath or shower should take place in the evening. After these procedures, a person should immediately go to bed, it is better to dress well beforehand, drink a warm soft drink.

Herbal treatments

If the body temperature has increased slightly, then you can take medicinal baths, which are added with a variety of herbs. They will relax your body and muscles.

With a cold, such a bath can heal the body. To do this, it is enough to add some herbs to the water. This could be:

When a person lies in such a bath, vapors of medicinal plants will begin to evaporate from it, and the patient will begin to inhale them. This is a kind of inhalation that will have a positive effect on your health and can also reduce the manifestation of some symptoms.

Alternatively, you can take an oil bath. For this, a mixture is initially prepared, which is later added to the water. You will need to mix 30 ml of olive oil with a few drops of essential oils. A dozen drops of cinnamon oil are added to this mixture. All this must be mixed well and combined with a mug of sea salt.

The mixture is poured into the bath. But you need to stay in water at elevated temperatures no more than a third of an hour. If the readings on the thermometer reach 38-39 degrees, then such a procedure should be abandoned.

Contraindications to water treatments

It is forbidden to take a bath for those who have such chronic diseases:

  • Hypertension
  • Diseases of the heart and blood vessels
  • Varicose veins
  • Pathologies associated with blood circulation in the brain.
  • Do not add herbs to the bathroom if you are allergic to them.

So, it is not forbidden to carry out water procedures during a rise in body temperature. But this should be done carefully, adhering to certain rules.

Cold water for colds. How hardened people get sick.

For me, there is no longer any doubt that cold water helps with colds.

It describes very well the procedures for treating children and adults with cold water and fresh air. A link to the book will be at the end of the article.

As an example, I will give a short diary of my cold from March 2015. And then I will tell you about how I practically temper.

Diary of my illness. The first day.

Today is Monday and I seem to be sick. And it pleases. It would seem what to rejoice at?

This is a great occasion to test my body. By nature, I am an experimenter and for several years now I have been experiencing various methods of healing. How long will I be sick? So heavy? Until recently, I definitely suffered from angina 2-3 times a year. Now these colds have become less and less common. Let's see how this will proceed after two years of dousing with cold water.

I don't know how long the incubation period lasted. It looks like it started on March 8, on Sunday. At 6 a.m. I was already in the pool and spent a total of 1.5 hours in the water.

I. I went to bed - perfectly clean breathing.

I slept well at night, but I was weak. Joints ached. Very similar to how it happens with the flu.

Day four. Thursday.

In the morning I woke up with clean breathing. There was a desire to go for a run right in the morning, but decided to postpone it. The process is clearly on the mend and an appetite has appeared. I ate oatmeal, drank coffee. Now ready to go. Although there is still a slight French accent. The process is clearly on the mend. What makes you happy? This is something that does not hurt the throat and hurt very little. As if warning, "take action, viruses are already close."

That's all the treatment

Friday morning. Day five.

There are no longer any signs of a cold. Everything is healthy and ready for the delivery of the TRP standards, which is what I wish all readers.

How I am tempered.

I take a cold shower every morning. The whole procedure takes no more than 2-3 minutes. The benefits of it are enormous. I wrote this article in 2015. It is now January 2016. I have never caught a cold. Although there were enough reasons for this. And wet feet, and walking without a hat in the off-season and running in the cold in shorts and a T-shirt. It really works.

How do I do it. I am writing point by point.

2.Close the drain hole with a plug.

3. I open the cold water tap.

4. I draw water to the ankle.

6. Going to the bath. I take a flexible shower in my hands.

7. I begin to wet my legs from the feet up to the waist.

8. From the belt I go higher and reach the face and head. All dousing is no more than 15-20 seconds.

9. I go down the shower and turn off the water.

10.If you wish, I repeat from p №7.

11. I dry myself as usual. Not red.

Each time I need to tune in to do a douche. It's always stressful and hard to get used to. It is believed that it is thanks to stress and the release of hormones that the immune system is strengthened.

For beginners, I can advise a gradual transition to dousing the whole body. Start at your feet and down to your knees. Don't make the water warm. Start with the coldest one. Change the time and area of the douche.

The main thing is regular and gradual. You can start at any time of the year. But better in summer. Then by winter there will already be a certain hardening base.

How long does it take to harden.

As you started, don't stop. It's like training here. While exercising, the body maintains its shape. I gave it up. Everything is lost. Then you have to start all over again.

Using this link you can subscribe to my blog news and get a step-by-step checklist (those points that I have given above) and a hardening calendar for 60 days. Print it out. Hang in the bathroom and start a new life. Or click on the "harden" button.

If you do not want to receive news, then just download the checklist and time sheet calendar here.

And now a question for you.

How did you solve the problem of colds? Maybe you also have an interesting hardening experience. Please write in the comments.

And as promised, the book by B.S. Tolkachev “Physical culture barrier for acute respiratory infections - http://www.koob.ru/tolkachev_b_s/fizkulturnii_zaslon_orz

I have not seen a more complete guide to hardening.

And to consolidate the video material about the former supporter of tempering Mikhail Kotlyarov. He began to temper at 65! In the USSR, he was often shown on TV. And my impressions of running in a T-shirt in the cold.

Can i take a contrast shower for colds?

Since last fall I have become addicted to the contrasting soul. The whole winter I never got sick. Spring came and I relaxed, I did a contrast shower much less often and now I caught a cold. But now I do not know if it is possible to continue the procedures with a cold, or is it better to completely recover first?

Opinions were divided on this matter. You can often find information that colds (including those accompanied by a high body temperature) are even treated with a contrast shower (or only cold water). But still, doctors warn that this method is very dangerous. Usually a cold occurs just from hypothermia, as a result of which the protective functions are reduced, the immune system is weakened, and it is much easier for viruses to enter the body. Additional cooling can only aggravate the problem, and the cold will gradually or rapidly develop even into inflammation. Therefore, nevertheless, it is better to wait with cold water, and as soon as the state of health improves, resume the contrast shower, as it has a very beneficial effect on human immunity.

A few years ago, doctors for colds generally prohibited water procedures. Today, a lot has changed, and now it is even strongly recommended to take a warm bath (but not for long) in case of mild ailment, and not to give up a hygienic shower for any illness. However, water procedures should be shortened in time, and the water temperature should not be too high or low (38 degrees - that's it). And, in the end, be guided by your well-being, listen to your body - it certainly will not deceive. Get well soon!

Contrast shower against colds - unconventional therapy

A contrast shower against colds should be used very carefully so as not to harm the body. It is important that the healing process takes place correctly.

Caution: Before using a contrast shower for therapeutic purposes, people with diabetes with diabetic neuropathy, as well as patients with heart disease, should consult a doctor. Water temperature in a contrast shower Contrast shower - relieve fatigue safely it is necessary to control with a thermometer, it is very important that the hot water temperature does not exceed 37.7-38 degrees Celsius.

Before a contrast shower, have a few glasses of warm water and hot tea. Hot drinks raise the body temperature and stimulate the elimination of toxins and harmful substances from the human body.

Start the procedure with hot water, the duration of this phase is three minutes, then switch to cold water for thirty seconds. After that, turn on hot water again for three minutes, carry out three to four contrasting series. The procedure should start with hot water and end with cold water.

After the shower, you should wipe dry and avoid hypothermia of the body. Hot water has a relaxing effect, so after a contrast shower, it is useful to lie down for a while and rest for at least half an hour.

Contrast shower for fever

Before the shower, the patient should drink hot tea or warm water. Fill the tub about halfway with warm water. Dissolve one to two cups of epsom salt in water. The patient is immersed in a bath; for convenience, a small pillow or rolled up towel can be placed under the head. The knees and shoulders of the patient should be covered with a hot towel, constantly maintaining its temperature with a stream of hot water. Be sure to record the patient's initial oral temperature and heart rate at the beginning of the procedure. Gradually increase the water temperature to 38C, if the patient tolerates high temperatures well, the water may be hotter.

Measure the patient's temperature every five minutes. When the water temperature reaches 38 degrees, a napkin is placed on the forehead, previously immersed in ice water, and then carefully wrung out. Wipe the patient's face and neck periodically with a cool sponge. Check your heart rate regularly. If the pulse rate exceeds 140 or the patient complains of discomfort and discomfort, lower the water temperature and wait for the temperature and pulse rate to return to normal values.

When the oral temperature reaches 38.33C, try to maintain it at the same level throughout the entire procedure. The duration of the procedure depends on the complexity of the disease (cancer or sexually transmitted diseases require a longer treatment), usually for the treatment of acute respiratory infections and influenza, contrast treatment lasts about 10-15 minutes.

After the salt bath Healing baths: a source of health and beauty , in order to reduce the blood flow to the face and wash away the salt residues from the skin, the patient should take a shower. In some cases, low blood pressure can lead to weakness and fainting, in such situations the patient may need support. After the procedure, wipe the skin dry, rub thoroughly with a hard towel and prevent hypothermia.

After the water procedure, the patient should immediately go to bed and cover himself with a warm blanket. You need to lie in bed for 30-60 minutes and sweat well. A rest period helps to stimulate the immune system. Research results have shown that after treatment for fever, the number of white blood cells increases from several thousand to ten to fifteen thousand. After the temperature returns to normal, you should take a neutral shower and put on clean clothes.

Infrared lamp treatment

Caution: Do not bring the lamp too close to your skin. You should feel pleasant warmth, not intense heat.

A slight reddening of the skin is quite normal, but if the redness does not disappear after an hour, then it is no longer normal.

If you plan to aim the lamp at your face, protect your eyes with a damp cloth. When using infrared light to treat sinusitis or facial infections, keep the lamp away from your face or ear. In most cases, the pain disappears in the first three to five minutes, after a few minutes the nasal passages open and breathing becomes easier. For sinusitis, the duration of the procedure is 20-30 minutes.

Warming up with an infrared lamp is very useful for chest colds and pneumonia. Working with an infrared lamp requires no outside help, so warming up can be a good alternative to moist heat treatment. Rub olive oil on your chest or back, then apply a small amount of peppermint essential oil. The warmth from a lamp located at a comfortable distance from the skin helps the essential oil penetrate deeper into the skin. This procedure takes about 30 minutes or more.

The lamp can also be used for self-hydrotherapy. The sore spot is covered with a damp towel or napkin and then heated with an infrared lamp.

Contrast shower for colds: is it worth getting carried away?

Many people believe that a contrast shower is a panacea for colds. Naturally, such procedures are good precisely as preventive ones. They temper the body, teach it to resist temperature extremes. Many doctors have noted that contrast douches can heal:

  • neuralgia;
  • rheumatism;
  • headache;
  • runny nose;
  • anemia;
  • circulatory disorders.

They also lead to getting rid of chronic fatigue, for those with reduced tone, a contrast shower is simply necessary. By the way, after regular such procedures, the condition of the skin is much improved. This is a kind of charging for the pores of the skin. And if you are used to tidying yourself up with such a shower, then you must not forget that the procedure is not always useful.

If you do not want to bring yourself to such a state that you have to call a doctor at home, you should beware of taking a contrast shower when the temperature rises. Why is this so? The body raises body temperature for a reason. And if doctors earlier unambiguously recommended to bring down the temperature with drugs, today there is a different approach: the body is allowed to "burn out" the infection. The main thing is that the process is controlled. It is not necessary to let the body overheat too much so that the internal organs do not suffer.

How does a contrast shower affect thermoregulation?

According to doctors, it is not worth resorting to a contrast shower during the heat. Not only low temperatures, since the body already has a cold, can be harmful, but also high temperatures, since they will further increase the body temperature. Many people cannot even stand on their feet in extreme heat; they experience weakness and dizziness. Going to the bathroom in this state is simply dangerous. Especially if you are doing it alone.

Another popular method, also practiced by ambulance doctors, can be a good alternative. This is rubbing with alcohol-containing preparations or vinegar. This procedure must be carried out correctly, that is, rub the person from the body to the feet and palms. Thus, blood will rush to the limbs, which often become cold during febrile conditions. In this case, the temperature will be distributed throughout the body evenly, and the internal organs will no longer be threatened by severe overheating. Heat will be given off by a large surface of the body, since both hands and feet are already included in the process, and rapidly evaporating alcohol or vinegar will help cool.

The pounded patient should be left under the sheet, but not wrapped so that he does not overheat. How to rub correctly, you may one day show you a doctor called at home, after which you will learn this simple and effective method of lowering the temperature.
