Many pathologies of the respiratory organs are accompanied by a painful cough. In this case, regardless of whether it is dry or wet, the patient tries to get rid of this unpleasant symptom as soon as possible. In pharmacies, you can find many medicines that will help cure a cough in a short time, including ACC. The medication can be prescribed for both dry and productive cough... With a dry cough, ACC increases the volume of mucus produced and promotes its discharge, and with a wet cough it helps to easily remove mucus from the respiratory organs.

General characteristics of the drug

The pharmaceutical industry produces the ACC medication in several doses and forms. There is also a long-acting drug that should not be drunk more than 2 times a day.... In pharmacies you can find the following forms of the drug:

 • soluble cough tablets;
 • solution for inhalation;
 • powder, when diluted in water, a drink is obtained;
 • sweet syrup. This form of medication is convenient to prescribe when treating a cough in a small child;
 • solution for intravenous and intramuscular injection.

The active component of these dosage forms is acetylcysteine. In addition, each type of drug is distinguished by some auxiliary components. So, in granules, among other things, there is a citrus flavor, in soluble tablets - blackberry, and in syrup - cherry.

ACC can be prescribed for both unproductive and wet cough. The acetylcysteine contained in the drug promotes the rapid removal of sputum from the bronchi and lungs. Taking ACC, the patient should drink a lot, in this case, the effect of the drug is enhanced, the sputum clears up well.

The effect of this drug has not yet been fully understood.... Acetylcysteine has a pronounced mucolytic, expectorant and antioxidant effect. Recent studies have shown that this substance is capable of effectively removing toxic substances from the body. However, most often, ACC is used for wet and dry coughs to facilitate the passage of sputum. This medication is able to thin thick phlegm, and then gently removes it from the respiratory organs. Among other things, acetylcysteine has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

ACC can be prescribed for the treatment of both adults and children of different ages. In the latter case, the required dose is calculated by the attending physician.

Indications

Taking ACC for coughing, you can notice a positive result just an hour after the start.... Most often, doctors prescribe to patients with coughing granules for making a solution and original dissolving tablets. These medicines are considered to be more convenient to use. You can start taking one or another form of the drug only on the recommendation of a doctor, since they affect the respiratory organs in different ways.

Acetylcysteine syrup will quickly help eliminate cough in chronic lung pathologies, and a special solution for inhalation is very effective in laryngotracheitis.

The drug is prescribed by physicians for pathologies of the respiratory organs, which are accompanied by different types of cough, namely:

 • bacterial and viral pneumonia;
 • bronchitis of a different nature;
 • cystic fibrosis and asthma;
 • various types of sinusitis;
 • otitis.

ACC for bronchitis and pneumonia is prescribed only as part of complex therapy. In this case, in addition to ACC, antibiotics and medications of other groups are often prescribed.

Most often, ACC is prescribed for a productive wet cough. This medication can also be used with an unproductive cough, but only if the patient has already taken medications to dilute too thick sputum. At the same time, the viscous mucus in the respiratory organs has already thinned out, the cough has become productive. Otherwise, ACC will not have any effect from an exhausting dry cough.

With a dry cough, people are usually prescribed ACC Long, but only in conjunction with drugs that help thin phlegm.

Prescribing ACC to children with a dry cough, it is worth immediately telling the parents that the treatment will give a noticeable result if the drinking regime is observed, and in addition to this drug, the child will take syrups based on licorice root or medicines containing ambroxol.

Contraindications

Not in all cases, different types of ACC cough can be treated. It is contraindicated to drink medicine when:

 • pulmonary bleeding;
 • coughing up sputum mixed with blood;
 • chronic renal failure;
 • septic;
 • hepatitis;
 • special sensitivity to the ingredients in the preparation.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the drug can be prescribed only in special cases when there is no alternative. In this case, the expected benefit for the expectant mother should be higher than the possible harm to the child.

Side effects

ACC can cause certain side effects. When treating with this medication, there is a high probability of the appearance of such disorders:

 • there may be persistent headaches and persistent tinnitus;
 • heartburn, persistent nausea and stool disorders;
 • increased heart rate and low blood pressure.

The annotation to ACC Long contains information that there may be allergic reactions that look like a skin rash.

How to drink medication

The dosage of ACC depends not only on the age of the person and the severity of the disease, but also on the type of drug. All types of ACC have a certain daily dosage..

ACC 100 can be given to babies almost from birth. For crumbs up to 2 years old, a medication of 50 mg is prescribed three times a day. A 100 mg soluble tablet is divided in half and then diluted in 0.5 glasses of water.

From 2 to 5 years old, the child drinks the medicine 4 times a day, a single dose is 100 mg. Children over 6 years old drink ACTS 200 three times a day.

ACC Long can be prescribed to patients from the age of 14. The daily dose is 600 mg, it is drunk at a time. The effervescent tablet is dissolved in water and drunk immediately after a meal.

You need to understand that if the prepared drug did not work out to drink for some reason, then it must be taken no later than a couple of hours after dilution. If more time has passed, then a fresh medicinal drink is prepared.

ACC 200 can only be taken as an aqueous solution. It is prescribed for children who are already six years old. You can consume 2 sachets per day, which are previously diluted in warm water. Adolescents after 14 years and adult patients consume a whole sachet of the previously diluted drug three times a day.

It is permissible to dilute the powder for the solution in water, cold tea, favorite juice or cooled compote... The powder for preparing the solution is poured with clean water until the marks marked on the bubble, and then mixed well, having previously closed the lid. After taking the medicine, you must definitely drink enough water or other drink, in which case the effectiveness of the treatment will be higher.

If ACC does not help with coughing at all for 4-5 days, then you need to consult a doctor, perhaps a dose adjustment is needed. The minimum course of treatment is 5 days, but if necessary, therapy can last up to six months.

Babies can be diluted with ACC in water, and then given through a bottle with a nipple.

Features of treatment of pregnant women

In women, during the period of bearing a child, immunity is greatly reduced, therefore the frequency of respiratory infections increases. For the treatment of pregnant women, doctors select drugs that will not have a negative effect on the fetus. The effect of ACC on pregnant women has not yet been fully studied, but based on the fact that it is prescribed for infants, it is possible to take this medicine for expectant mothers. The dose of medicine for this group of patients is determined by the doctor.

If alarming symptoms appear while taking the drug, treatment is stopped and contact a medical facility.

ACC is a highly effective remedy for wet and dry coughs, which can also be purchased at a low price. The form and dose of the medicine is selected by the doctor individually, but more often they prescribe soluble tablets and packaged powder for preparing a healing drink.

The drug "ACC" (in Russian, more often called ACC), is prescribed for cough in the treatment of colds of various types. In addition, the drug is prescribed in the presence of allergic cough spasms, has several forms of release and dosage options, the choice of which depends on the age and weight of the patient. The longest duration of action is distinguished by "ACTS Long", the effect of which lasts for 12 hours. The last variation of the drug is taken only twice a day.

Cough spasms in their types can be both productive, in which sputum is released, and dry, most often manifested at the initial stage of a cold ailment. Initially, the drug is positioned by manufacturers as a remedy for wet coughs, which helps remove phlegm from the respiratory system and makes breathing easier. However, "ACC" also helps with dry cough, bringing it to the productive stage.

In medical practice, it is customary to prescribe this medicine in various forms for the following ailments:

It should be borne in mind that the clinical benefit from this drug is possible only if it is used to treat ailments included in the list of those indicated above. Thus, you should not try to stop the cough spasm with the help of "ACC" yourself. If the drug does not give any effect, then, most likely, the disease does not belong to the profile of its action.

How does the medicine work?

The drug "ACC" is considered an excellent way to combat phlegm that occurs in the cavity of the respiratory tract, lungs and bronchi due to various kinds of infectious lesions. At the same time, phlegm, trying for natural reasons to get out, provokes a cough, and often this substance turns out to be too viscous and dense, which leads to its too strong adhesion to the bronchi. With the help of "ACC" it is possible not only to fully establish, but also to promote the process of sputum discharge from the respiratory system and its excretion.

The main component of the drug is a cysteine derivative, this amino acid directly affects the structure of sputum, changing its consistency. The mucus increases in its condition, easily detaches from the bronchi and is naturally excreted from the airway cavity. In connection with the removal of sputum, the healing process takes place, and the protective reactions of the mucous membranes are restored.

It is noteworthy that the action of "ACC" is aimed at eliminating not only ordinary mucous sputum, but also the one in which purulent formations have already appeared. The drug is often used in conjunction with antibacterial drugs, since it facilitates the penetration of the latter into the mucous part of the respiratory system. At the same time, it is important to observe the two-hour interval between medications. In addition to an active effect on phlegm, cough medicine has antioxidant properties, respectively, acetylcysteine significantly facilitates the course of any viral infection.

In fact, the drug eliminates the manifestation of symptoms characteristic of a strong flu, while simultaneously fighting cough spasms.

Instructions for the use of tablets and powder ACC (ass) for dry cough

The correct dosage of the drug is calculated based on the type of ailment from which therapy is carried out, the age and weight of the patient. In addition, the dosage of "ACC" for dry cough for children and adults is different. When treating such a serious ailment as mucoviscytosis, the daily dose of the drug is no more than 800 mg, provided that the patient's weight exceeds the mark of 30 kg. The duration of therapy can be very long and be at least 3-6 months. Treatment should be carried out only under the supervision of a doctor and taking into account the use of a complex of drugs.

For the treatment of dry type cough spasm for other diseases of the respiratory tract for people from the age of 14, a dosage of 400 to 600 mg of the drug in the form of tablets or powder consistency at one time is indicated. If there is a too acute course of the disease, then taking drugs under the supervision of a doctor lasts at least a week. With a chronic ailment, a dry cough with the help of tablets or ACC powder can be treated for about six months.

According to the instructions for use, if there are no other doctor's prescriptions, the drug is taken immediately after a meal as an expectorant. The method of using the medicine is as follows: powder or a certain number of tablets are dissolved in ½ glass of water or tea and immediately drunk.

Taking medicine for children is carried out according to a different scheme, and here the important point is the type of drug relative to the dosage of the active component in it:

 1. "ACC 100" is approved from birth for the treatment of dry cough in infants. The dosage under the age of 2 years is three times a day in the amount of 50 mg, then the dosage is increased to 100 mg in four doses, and after six years this medication should be taken at a dosage of 600 mg per day, which should be divided into three doses.
 2. "ACTS 200" is allowed only at the age of a child whose mark has exceeded 6 years, and the use of the drug is allowed only in the form of a solution. Do not use more than two sachets of powder dissolved in water during. For adolescents over the age of 14, the number of sachets is brought to three, which is equal to the adult dosage.
 3. "ACTS Long" is allowed only after 14 years, the daily dosage of this type of drug should not exceed 600 mg, and the patient should receive it at one time. The tablet dissolves in water and is taken orally immediately after a meal. The storage time of the solution does not exceed half an hour, otherwise the tablet must be re-dissolved for a new solution.

Children's cough syrup Ass

For the treatment of cough in children, manufacturers produce a special form of the drug "ACC" in the form of a syrup, the reception and tolerance of which is much easier than a solution obtained on the basis of tablets or powder.
The medicine in this form is also convenient because it is already ready for use and does not require additional dilution steps.

The syrup dosage is calculated using a measuring cup, and it itself depends on the age and, accordingly, the weight of the child. In particular, 5 ml of the preparation equals one quarter of the cup.

If the child's age lies in the aisles from 2 to 6 years, then 5 ml should be taken no more than three times a day. After 7 years, the number of doses increases to 3-4, or it is permissible to use 10 ml at a time, but twice a day. After 15 years, the daily dose is 10 ml 3 times a day. The preparation also contains a special syringe for the convenience of calculating the dosage. Its use is very convenient for treating very young children.

Contraindications and side effects

Like any medication, "ACC" for cough has its own contraindications, non-observance of which can lead to side effects. According to the instructions developed by the manufacturers of the drug, it is prohibited to be taken in the following cases:

 • coughing up blood mucus;
 • bleeding in the lungs;
 • intolerance to fructose at the genetic level;
 • individual intolerance to the main component of the drug and other substances in its composition;
 • renal failure, various liver diseases, especially hepatitis;
 • the presence of a peptic ulcer.

As side effects when taking this drug, it is customary to consider such phenomena as various allergic reactions, heart palpitations, heartburn, general disruption of the gastrointestinal tract, which manifests itself in the form of diarrhea and vomiting, headaches and tinnitus.

Allergic reactions are typical in the presence of individual intolerance to the substances in the composition of the drug, in this case, immediate discontinuation of the drug is required due to the risk of Quincke's edema. In other cases, the study of the drug did not lead to the identification of any situations in which its intake would pose a threat to human life. If any signs of side effects appear, you should immediately stop taking the drug and consult your doctor for adjusting the treatment regimen.

The drug "ACC" is successfully used to treat various ailments, accompanied by a dry and productive cough. The drug and its dosage should only be prescribed by a doctor after diagnosis.

Children's immunity is formed gradually. This is the reason for the special susceptibility to colds. One of the most unpleasant symptoms of a cold is coughing.

It can be dry or wet. With a dry cough, there is pain and discomfort in the throat. For its treatment, ACC powder for children is prescribed.

This article discusses instructions for using ACC powder (100 and 200 mg) for children, collects parental reviews of the drug for children, indicates the price of the drug.

Name:

ACC

Pharmacological
act:

Acetylcysteine (ACC) - mucolytic, expectorant, which is used to thin sputum in diseases of the respiratory system, accompanied by the formation of thick mucus. Acetylcysteine is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine.
The mucolytic effect of the drug is chemical in nature.
Due to the free sulfhydryl group, acetylcysteine breaks the disulfide bonds of acidic mucopolysaccharides, which leads to depolymerization of mucoproteins in sputum and a decrease in mucus viscosity and promotes expectoration and discharge of bronchial secretions.
The drug remains active in the presence of purulent sputum.
Acetylcysteine also has antioxidant pneumoprotective properties, which is due to the binding of its sulfhydryl groups of chemical radicals and, thus, neutralizing them.

In addition, the drug helps to increase the synthesis of glutathione - an important factor of intracellular protection not only against oxidative toxins of exogenous and endogenous origin, but also against some cytotoxic substances.
This feature of acetylcysteine makes it possible to effectively use the latter in case of paracetamol overdose.
After oral administration, acetylcysteine quickly and completely absorbed and undergoes metabolism in the liver with the formation of cysteine, a pharmacologically active metabolite, as well as diacetylcysteine, cystine and further mixed disulfides.
Bioavailability is very low - about 10%.
Cmax in blood plasma is reached within 1-3 hours after administration. Plasma protein binding - 50%.
Acetylcysteine is excreted by the kidneys as inactive metabolites (inorganic sulfates, diacetylcysteine).
T½ is determined mainly by rapid biotransformation in the liver and is about 1 hour. In the case of a decrease in liver function, T½ increases to 8 hours.

Indications for
application:

Acetylcysteine is prescribed in all cases of diseases with the accumulation of thick viscous sputum in the bronchial tree and upper respiratory tract, namely:
- acute and chronic bronchitis, including obstructive;

Treatment is continued for a long time, in courses of several months (3-6).
In all other cases, the daily dose for children from 14 years of age and adults is 400-600 mg. From 6 to 14 years old - 300-400 mg (divided into 2 doses), 2-5 years old - 200-300 mg (divided into 2 doses).
Children from the 10th day of life and up to 2 years old are used 50 mg 2-3 r / s.

For acute illnesses without complications the drug is prescribed for 5-7 days.
In case of complications or in a chronic course, course treatment is possible (up to 6 months).
ACC is taken after meals.
The tablet or the contents of the sachet must be dissolved in half a glass of liquid (iced tea, water, juice).

Side effects:

The following classification is used to describe the frequency of side effects: very often (≥1 / 10), often (≥1 / 100,<1/10), нечасто (≥1/1000, <1/100), редко (≥1/10 000, <1/1000), очень редко (<1/10 000).

From the respiratory system: rarely - shortness of breath, bronchospasm (mainly in patients with hyperreactivity of the bronchial system, which is associated with BA), rhinorrhea.

From the digestive tract: infrequently - heartburn, dyspepsia, stomatitis, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bad breath.
General disorders: infrequently - fever.
Some severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson and Lyell syndromes) have been reported.
With the use of acetylcysteine, bleeding was very rarely reported, which was most often associated with the development of hypersensitivity reactions.
There have been cases of decreased platelet aggregation, but there is no clinical confirmation of this.
Rarely Quincke's edema, facial edema, cases of anemia, hemorrhages, anaphylactic reactions, or even shock have been reported.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine and excipients;
