Your target is in the Cave of Withering, it is located in the northern part of Winterspring entrance from the sea side. Most toys and abilities cannot be used inside the cave. Also, do not try to "cheat" the game, it will not work - everything must be done clearly according to points, otherwise you will simply be thrown into the beginning of the cave. So:

First, you have to overcome the wall of fire. To do this, use the Greater Fire Protection Potion.
After you run into the wall of fel, and to overcome it you need to drink 5 (6 together with the previous) potions: Major Potion of Protection from Nature, Major Potion of Protection from Dark Magic, Major Potion of Protection from Holy Magic, Major Potion of Protection from Ice Magic, Major Arcane Protection Potion.
After you will meet a gargoyle, which will carry you to the entrance, if you do not drink the Elixir of Noggenfogger. Drink and move on.

- Return and go through the transparent barrier after drinking the Ethereal Oil. There will be a Strange Stone behind it. Apply Gordok Ogre Armor and Hibernation Firewater, canceling Carlomaslo. Stick your hand in the stone and get the "Sign of the Second" buff.
- Go back and approach the thorns, they will disappear and you can go further. DO NOT JUMP! I do not know why, but because of this, you may end up at the beginning of the cave. Next, you will appear in front of the lake, next to the wall you will see a sign. Cancel the Fire Water, use the Scroll of Intellect and go to the lake.
Next, you will see a strange egg, use it and get a pet!
