Vallière with his own hands. Comfortable dog enclosures: do it yourself without waste and mistakes

Together with the need to build a spacious enclosure for a dog, a number of questions arise: to make a home or outdoor arena, what materials are better to use, how to choose the optimal size of the building so that the animal is not cramped. Find out what you need to consider when designing, and simple recommendations and step-by-step instructions for the construction of all structural elements, without exception, will help you cope with the task without professional help.

Types of dog enclosures

Depending on where the aviary will be located, home and outdoor types are distinguished. The type that suits the pet is selected based on the capabilities of the yard, climatic conditions, breed, sex and age of the animal.

With the right approach, an aviary can become a decoration of the yard.

Outdoor dwellings for big dogs

The outdoor enclosure serves as a full-fledged home for the animal. The main functions that an outdoor dog enclosure should perform:

  • protection of the pet from bad weather;
  • restriction of the territory for free walking;
  • meeting the needs of the animal in its home;
  • ensuring the safety of the dog.

Approximate plan

To shelter the pet from rain or snow, be sure to make a canopy or a roof, not counting only on the booth. If the precipitation is rather heavy and prolonged, the animal will be able to stay in a shelter, not limited to one square meter. Winter enclosures should be solid so that the dog does not freeze. Often used different systems heating.

Not all owners are delighted with the idea that the dog can freely walk around the site without restriction. Large breeds can be inconvenient. Aviary solves this problem completely. The pet can be inside around the clock with occasional walks outside the territory, and sometimes the owners lock the dog only for the night or when they expect strangers to come into the house.

Indoor outdoor enclosure made of wood

One of the main requirements for dog housing is walking. This is a spacious, uncluttered open air area to which the animal has free access. An open-air cage gives the dog the opportunity not to be locked up all day. If you have a walk, it is convenient to train your pet.

Dogs are pets. They need a kennel and territory that they are trusted to guard. A spacious enclosure for a large dog is not perceived by her as a cage, the pet is quite comfortable, but only subject to the construction standards.

When erecting aviaries for big dogs usually wood or metal is used. These materials are strong enough to withstand the pressure of an adult animal, in addition, if the operating standards are observed, such a playpen will last a long time.

Shelter for two beasts

Home dog shelters

An aviary for a dog at home is simply necessary if:

  • your pet has puppies;
  • a dog of a room breed lives in the apartment;
  • other animals or small children appeared in the house.

A rabid bitch needs a secluded place where she will be confident in the safety of her offspring. An indoor aviary can become such a place. In addition, slightly grown puppies are very active and often tear, break and gnaw everything that catches their eyes during the game. Before the puppies are given to new owners, it makes sense to keep them in the arena.

Often in apartments you can find enclosures for small dogs. Living in such a "house", the animal gets used to the fact that food, a place for a toilet, a bed are always in one place. When the habit is developed, the dog will not leave marks in different corners of the room, but will get used to the order.

If your beloved dog considers himself the owner of the house, then with the appearance of another dog or, for example, a cat, the animal may become jealous, nervous and protest. The same applies to families in which a child was born - sometimes the four-legged guest does not immediately react adequately. To protect new residents of the house and help the animal adapt to new conditions, it is advisable to equip a dog enclosure at home.

A simple dog enclosure looks like a fence that can be installed anywhere in the room, and, if necessary, moved or assembled. In such a playpen it will be comfortable for puppies who cannot get out or jump over the fence. While their mom will be free to enter or leave the playpen.

Puppies will be as safe as your belongings

The cage enclosure limits the space for the animal not only on the sides, but also on top. It is impossible for a dog to get out of such a fence on its own. They are used for short-term maintenance of medium-sized breeds or for permanent residence of small pets.

An aviary in an apartment is most often made of wood, metal or plastic. Designs and sizes are different, but there must be a place for eating and drinking. Small dogs and puppies need a litter box inside the fence.

Aviary sizes - requirements and calculations

To build a dog enclosure with your own hands, prepare a drawing with dimensions. This will make it easier for you to decide on the right amount of building materials. Sizes are chosen according to generally accepted standards developed by experienced dog breeders. You also need to focus on the breed of your pet, some of them require an individual approach.

Size varies by breed

General norms and requirements

The sizes of the enclosures depend on the size of the dog, its breed, the number of animals simultaneously living in the same territory. Of course, an enclosure for a small dog can be much smaller in comparison with a building for a large breed. Approximate norms that it is desirable to observe:

  • dogs taller than 65 cm at the withers - the area of the enclosure is not less than 10 m 2;
  • from 50 to 65 cm at the withers - area from 8 m 2;
  • growth less than 50 cm - from 6 m 2.

Universal size chart for any size animal

An enclosure for several dogs or for a mother with puppies should be more spacious. For two adults, a fence with an area of one and a half times is suitable over normal for one. You can build a separate booth for each of the animals, or you can limit yourself to one fairly spacious room, where there is enough space for everyone.

An aviary for a medium dog should have three zones:

  • winter road (booth or other premises);
  • open part of the walk;
  • part of the walk under a canopy.

Approximate space zoning scheme

One half of the walk should be located on the platform, the other half on open ground... With such a distribution of territory, four-legged friend will be able to walk in any weather, if desired, bask in the sun or hide from the heat or rain under a roof.

Calculation of the area depending on the breed

Sizes should be selected taking into account the characteristics of the breed. Huge dog enclosures will delight active large animals, while tiny breeds will start to feel uncomfortable there.

An outdoor enclosure for dwarf dogs cannot be their habitat all year round. These breeds do not winter outdoors in our climate. Such a cage can serve as a temporary fence for walking the pet in the yard, and it can also be installed in an apartment.

In such a house, Alabai will be a full-fledged owner.

Large breeds require a special approach to the organization of the home. In a low or too small enclosure, the animal will be uncomfortable and this can affect its health and character. The sizes for the Alabai must correspond to the standards for large dogs. Take care of the height of the fence. The dog can jump over a fence up to 3 meters high.

Husky dog enclosure deserves a separate discussion. This breed is distinguished by its activity. Keeping a husky in the house is undesirable - she needs space and a place to walk. Huskies are up to 60 cm tall at the withers on average. But for them it is better to equip the fenced area with a larger area - about 10-15 squares. A rectangle with an aspect ratio of 2: 3 is considered the best fencing for a husky.

Husky needs to be constantly in motion - this is a feature of the breed

The popular raccoon breed also prefers to live in the courtyard in a designated area. An aviary for a raccoon dog must be at least 6 squares, fenced both above and below. There is a high probability that the animal will want to leave the cage and start digging the ground near the wall. You must make sure that your pet does not gnaw through the fence material or break it.

Do-it-yourself dog enclosure

To make an aviary for a dog with your own hands in the yard, you need to think over everything to the smallest detail. You should start with the selection, calculation and purchase of building materials. Then you need to take care of the foundation, base, frame, fencing and roof. And when the building itself is ready, you need to solve the issue of installing a feeder and allocating space for a toilet.

Aviary scheme

Selection of materials for construction

After you have decided on the location and size, it's time to choose what material to make the dog enclosure from. For a stationary building, it is recommended to arrange at least one blank wall (made of brick or wood), and the rest - lattice. Often, to save space and building materials, a fence is attached to a house or fence.

Lattice walls can be:

  • from a chain-link mesh;
  • from metal rods;
  • from forged elements;
  • from galvanized pipes.

Wooden house for a summer residence

A chain-link mesh is considered not the best option - the animal can damage its teeth when trying to gnaw through the fence. However, it is a cheap material that is quick and easy to work with. You will have to work hard with a fence made of fittings or pipes, but the structure will come out much stronger and more durable. Forged aviaries are not only practical, but also beautiful. Such a building can serve as a decoration for your site.

Welded mesh fencing

A metal enclosure for a dog must have an entrance door for the owner. This is done in order to feed, train, communicate with the animal and clean the inside of the dog's house. The door must correspond to the growth of the owner, you cannot enter the beast, bending over. You need to take care of reliable hinges and a bolt, sometimes a barn lock will do.

The door must open inward so that the dog cannot open it.

The principle of building walls

They begin work with the construction of the foundation for the aviary with their own hands. You can dig a trench around the perimeter of the future fence and make a strip foundation. Sometimes it is more rational to dig holes in the places where the supporting elements are installed and make a columnar foundation at these points.

Brick dog enclosures are very labor intensive. Such structures weigh quite a lot and require a good foundation. If we neglect this factor, already in the first year of operation, the soil can sink, and the wall is deformed, which threatens the appearance of cracks.

Timber construction

A brick enclosure for dogs is a good option, it is warm to the animal, due to the low thermal conductivity of the building material. Such walls are not afraid of any wind or rain; the building can be called a reliable shelter.

If you are planning a wooden dog enclosure, the roof frame, canopy supports, and flooring are made of planks and beams. Often they approach the issue in a complex way: the frame is made of metal, and the cladding is made of wood.

The frame for the aviary is best made of steel pipes or channels. It is planned at the stage of foundation construction. Outlets are left at the pivot points, to which the frame will later be welded.

A metal enclosure for a dog from a mesh is made according to the following scheme:

  1. A metal frame is installed.
  2. Stretch and secure the mesh with a welded joint.
  3. They are treated with a protective material against corrosion.

The fence is welded to metal supports and connected to a wooden base

A metal enclosure for a dog from fittings is mounted using a welding machine. A lattice is made from the cut rods, by welding the reinforcement to the metal frame from the corner. The pitch of the rods should be no more than 10 cm. Then the frame is connected to the support pillars with the same welding.

Another option is a dog enclosure from shaped pipe... Here everything is done according to the same principle, but instead of reinforcing rods, a profile pipe of small diameter is used, for example, 15 * 15 mm.

How to make a secure floor

Another important nuance that will have to be decided in advance is what floors to make in the dog's enclosure. The following types are used:

  • wooden floor;
  • concrete screed;
  • asphalt;
  • priming.

A concrete floor in an aviary is the most common and most undesirable option for the health of a domestic animal. In winter, these floors will be very cold and cause illness for the dog. An alternative to concrete is asphalt. But it gets hot in summer and requires special styling equipment.

Wood floors are the best option. They are warm enough, but must be regularly treated with an antiseptic, otherwise the tree will quickly rot. Another method to extend the life of the boards is to place the boardwalk 20-30 cm above ground level.

To make a wooden floor with your own hands, prepare a sufficient amount of edged boards, at least 40 mm thick and a rectangular bar.

  1. Treat the material with an antiseptic.
  2. From a bar, put together a frame and logs for future flooring.
  3. Spread the planks on the frame to fit the seams.
  4. Using wood screws and a screwdriver, fix the flooring to the frame.
  5. Treat the floor with varnish or paint to protect it.

To protect from frost, the floor is raised

Roof selection and construction

The dog guard must be covered with a canopy. The roof creates the necessary shade in the hot season and protects from precipitation. Most often they use a simple single-slope scheme. To understand how to make a roof for a dog enclosure, decide on a building material. You can make a cover from:

  • slate;
  • corrugated board;
  • wood and roofing material or soft tiles;
  • awning fabric.

Single-pitched slate roof on a metal frame

Slate and corrugated board are laid according to the same principle: they make a frame made of wood, to which sheets of roofing material are alternately sewn. If soft coating options are used, OSB sheets are stuffed onto the prepared frame, and then sheathed with rolls of roofing material or elements of soft tiles.

The easiest option is an awning. A frame is erected, most often metal. A specially sewn fabric roof is pulled onto the frame. Such a tent does not get wet and creates a deep shadow. But buying ready-made solutions is quite expensive, and not everyone can sew on their own.

Tarpaulin canopy for protection from rain

Pet feeder

The structure is ready, but it's too early to let the dog go there. Now you need to take care of his nutrition. Before making a do-it-yourself feeder in a dog's aviary, study the basic requirements that apply to them:

  • the feeder should be raised above the ground;
  • water and food should be in separate bowls without the possibility of accidental mixing;
  • the feeder in the aviary should be within the reach of the dog and the owner;
  • ideally if you can add food without going inside.

You can simply fix several containers for water and feed near the outer wall of the fence for the aviary, or you can approach the issue thoroughly and build a special retractable structure for the convenience of the animal and the owner.

How to make a toilet

On the street, the toilet in the dog enclosure is just an open area. If you do not plan to walk the dog several times a day every day, you will have to get used to daily cleaning, because excrement is not only bad smell but also a source of infections.

Separate dwellings for two animals

To make cleaning easier, the aviary is positioned at an angle to the facade or one of the side walls. So all impurities can be easily flushed out of the hose and then removed. For indoor dogs, a tray or diaper is provided, for males - a special post for small needs.

As the well-known children's song says: "A dog is a bite, only from the life of a dog." And to keep your pet warm, dry and comfortable at any time of the year, do not be too lazy to build a cozy and safe enclosure for him. You can be sure that the dog will be grateful to its owner.

These are popular in summer cottages and large estates for large guard dogs. Keeping them on a chain is inhumane to the animal and irresponsible in terms of protecting your property. The chain was relevant when the local area was small. With the increase in the local area, this lost its meaning: if at least some area is inaccessible to the dog, then the house, consider it, is not protected.

In addition, a dog on a chain is an easy target for a serious thief, and losing a guardian pet is not only sad, but also very expensive. After all, a well-trained guard dog is expensive. All this together is a weighty argument in order to make a house with your own hands, and to launch the animal there, and release it at night.

Interesting: it has been proven that an animal living in an aviary shows less aggression than one living on a chain. This is important if, in addition to the dog, children live in the house.

The following argument often arises against the construction of an aviary: the dog is friendly and freely walks around the territory. Let's say the dog is really safe for everyone at home, but what if your neighbors, guests, and utility workers came to the site? In order not to feverishly start coming up with ways to isolate a large animal, it is better to take care of this in advance.

Important: an outdoor enclosure should be a full-fledged home for a dog.

Really, watch dogs domesticated for a long time and today they need a cozy kennel and territory that they will protect. If you build an outdoor dog enclosure, observing all the rules, spacious and comfortable, it will not be perceived as a cage.

Collapsible aviary

Outdoor dog enclosures can be either prefabricated and collapsible or stationary. The first ones are more versatile, they can be moved or removed at any time as unnecessary, for example, if the aviary was placed on summer cottage and not needed in winter.

Also, these aviaries can be called differently: constant- a whole complex for keeping a dog, with a booth, a couch and a walking area; or just a fenced area of the territory - temporary.

Outdoor aviary functions:

  • restriction of the territory of free range;
  • ensuring the safety of the animal;
  • protection from weather phenomena (cold, rain, etc.);
  • satisfaction of the dog's desire to be isolated from time to time, the need for its territory.

Important: for an outdoor enclosure, it is important to have a walk - a spacious area in the fresh air, which will allow the pet to not sit locked up all day.

Dimensions (edit)

Before you properly build a home aviary with your own hands on the site, you must definitely prepare a drawing so as not to be mistaken with the size and amount of necessary materials. The dimensions of the building are chosen based on the norms developed by experienced dog breeders. You also need to take into account the breed of your pet.

The size of the aviary will depend on:

  • the size of the animal;
  • his breed;
  • the number of dogs in the building;
  • the purpose of the aviary - the dog will live there permanently, or walk around the territory.

The minimum area of a dog's house on the street is calculated based on the height of the animal at the withers:

  • up to 50 cm - 6 sq. m;
  • up to 60 cm - 8 sq. m;
  • from 60 cm and above - from 10 sq. m.

Dimensional drawings:

Other parameters are also calculated according to the body of the animal.: the width should be at least one and a half body length (but without the tail). At the same time, you should not make the width less than 1.5 meters, even for small dogs. The length is calculated in terms of area and width.

For the aviary, you need to calculate the height. It is more difficult to do this: you need to lift the dog by the front paws until it stretches out to its full length. An assistant will be needed to measure the distance from the front legs to the ground. Then you need to add another half meter to the resulting figure - this is the minimum height.

Important: there are especially jumping animal breeds. For example, now fashionable huskies: in their homeland, these dogs jump very high, this helps them to navigate in the endless white snow. To prevent the dog from jumping out of the enclosure, you will have to raise the walls higher.

All of the above figures are per animal. For two adult dogs, this area will need to be increased by one and a half times. The aviary for a bitch with babies should be even larger, because the animals will actively explore the world.

You need to pay attention to breed: huge enclosures are perfect for large or active breeds - they can warm up at any time. But bigger is not always better: a small dog in a large room will get lost in every sense. She will be scared and uncomfortable there.

Important: an outdoor enclosure is not suitable for the permanent habitation of dwarf breeds, they do not winter in our climate.

An aviary for breeds such as husky and alabai, often appearing in private homes. What kind of enclosure should it be for them?

As already mentioned, she jumps well, so if you do not want to catch her all over the site, raise the walls higher. And this dog is also very active and sociable. In general, she will not be suitable for guard animals: she is too loving and will quickly get bored. An aviary for her can be equipped only for the purpose of constant walking: she will be cramped in the house. Despite the fact that the breed does not exceed 60 cm at the withers, it will need an area of 10 to 15 squares, with an aspect ratio of 2: 3.

The size of the enclosure must correspond to this giant: in a small enclosure (as well as on a chain), the animal will quickly become embittered and become dangerous to the owner. This dog can also surprise with jumping ability: an adult Alabai is able to jump a height of about 3 m.

So before you build a pen with your own hands for a house, be sure to think carefully about everything!

Materials (edit)

The main criteria here are - safety for the owner and the animal... That is, the dog should not break free, as well as cripple when trying to do this, or simply while living in an aviary. If the building is stationary, one wall should be made deaf, made of wood or even brick.

Often, in order to save money, the aviary is attached directly to the wall of the house or to the fence:

Very stylish dog enclosure

The rest of the walls are made of lattice, from:

  • Wooden or metal rods.
    Rods are the most reliable option, and besides, such a fence is easy to repair.
  • Chain-link grids.
    The netting should only be used when there is not enough money for anything else: this cheap material can harm the dog. She is able to scratch on it, or break her teeth, trying to gnaw through the mesh. But the chain-link is very easy to install.
  • Wrought iron.
    Wrought iron aviaries are very beautiful, durable, but expensive.
  • Made of galvanized pipes.
    And the structure of galvanized pipes will require considerable effort at the construction stage, but then it will stand for a long time.

Important: Whichever material you choose, you need to take care of its coverage. The metal is coated with a special paint that prevents corrosion, and the wood is impregnated with a compound that will provide protection against rot and wood-boring beetles.

A winter outdoor enclosure must have a winter road! The winter road is a separate, carefully insulated room adjacent to the open-air cage with a warm booth. We recommend that you build just such enclosures - they are the most profitable and convenient for your pet:

Building walls

How to do it yourself? The walls of the enclosure serve as a fence for the dog who wants to go outside. They carry the main load, so pay special attention to them. Before erecting walls, you need to take care of the foundation. There are several options here:

  1. The perimeter of the future structure is outlined, a trench is pulled out and a strip foundation is made.
  2. A columnar foundation is made only in those places on which the supporting elements will be installed.

It is impossible to build walls without a foundation: the soil will sag over time, and the aviary can be twisted.

Outdoor enclosures, as a rule, are built of metal or solid wood, so that, if something happens, it can withstand the pressure of a large adult animal. In addition, an aviary made of such materials will last a long time if properly operated.

A good option for an animal is brick aviary, it will be warm and comfortable, neither rain nor wind will get inside.

You can also make an aviary out of wood: it's easier, because you don't have to do the masonry yourself. Often these options are combined: one brick wall and three from a metal lattice. Or a frame is welded from steel pipes, and then it is sheathed with wood.

In practice, the best option is welded bar fence... It is made according to the following scheme:

  1. Make a wireframe.
  2. Make a lattice from chopped rods by welding the reinforcement to the metal frame from the corner. Distance between rods for large dogs- 10 cm, for the rest - about 5.
  3. Connect the frame to the support posts using the same welding.
  4. Check if all the elements are securely welded, or they just grabbed: with a strong push, the animal will knock them out.
  5. Treat the structure from rust.

Important: a door must be made in the walls.

It should not be done in a blank wall: the animal is comfortable to see that someone is coming up to it and will now come in. It is worth making sure that the door opens inward and not outward, otherwise the pet will easily knock it out. And in a fit of joy, when greeting the owner, the dog can hit him with the door.

The door here is not perfect

Floor

So, let's build the floor! Gender is equally important. The trampled earth does not suit unambiguously: some of the dogs love to dig, and will quickly render the enclosure unusable. And the raccoon dog and a number of other breeds will dig their way at will, without too much straining.

The other extreme - a floor filled with concrete, "so as not to get out", is also undesirable. These floors are cold, especially in winter, which will make the dog suffer and can get sick. A couple of years on a concrete floor - and guaranteed.

Best to stay on wood floors... They are warm and easy to install.

To make such a floor, you need:

  1. Prepare boards with a thickness of about 40 mm and a rectangular bar.
  2. Treat the material with an antiseptic.
  3. Make a frame for the flooring.
  4. Lay the boards on the frame, adjust the seams, then fix the flooring with self-tapping screws. The heads of the screws must be drowned and putty so that the dog does not get hurt.
  5. Paint or varnish the floor.

Important: do not skimp on paint, a cheap and toxic product will damage the dog's scent, and without staining the floor will quickly rot.

Roof fabrication

For the construction of the roof, slate, shingles, corrugated board, siding or ordinary tarpaulin are used. The main thing is that the material does not resonate from wind and rain, this will damage the dog's hearing, no less sensitive and subtle than the sense of smell. Soft shingles or fabric will solve this problem. Most often, the roof is made the simplest, lean-to.

Important: the roof must have a gap for ventilation, because the heat and stuffiness are very harmful for the dog.

A great option is awning... First you need to build a metal or wooden frame, and then pull the fabric roof over it. The material must be waterproof. But the problem is that it is difficult to sew such a tent yourself, and buying is not cheap.

Chain-link aviaries with an awning roof. Not suitable for permanent housing

The easiest option is from slate, siding or corrugated board. In this case, the frame is also built first. The roof covering of the aviary is laid on a reliable, well sanded roofing system.

Trough

The main stages of construction are behind, the question remains, from what the future inhabitant of the aviary will eat. There are several requirements for the feeder:

  • raised above the ground to a height of 20-30 cm, that is, at the height of the lower edge of the dog's chest, depending on its size. It is undesirable for these animals to eat from the floor, it is harmful to the back and paws;
  • there are separate areas for food and water. It is necessary to exclude mixing;
  • the presence of a rotary mechanism in the feeder and the ability to fix it. So not only the owner, but also other people in his absence will be able to feed the dog safely.

The easiest way is to just weld a few bowls to the rods, but they won't spin. For the rotary device in the frame, a small rectangular frame is planned in advance, into which the rotary device of the feeder and drinker is inserted.

How to make the toilet comfortable for the animal and the owner?

And finally, an important part of any enclosure is the toilet. It is advisable to immediately teach the animal to relieve itself in one place, otherwise the number of general cleaning in the aviary will increase from one annual, planned, to infinity. You can do it like this:

  1. Prepare a container that is the right size for your dog, from a bowl to a basin.
  2. Make a cutout in the floor for the toilet, positioning it at a distance from the feeder and booth.
  3. Temporarily cover the hole with a board or plywood.
  4. Introduce the dog into the enclosure. For a while, she can relieve herself anywhere.
  5. When the animal becomes accustomed, its impurities are collected, but not thrown away. The dog needs to be taken out of the enclosure, and cleaned in it.
  6. After cleaning, the toilet is put in place. The bowl is covered with sand and placed on top of the pet's sewage.
  7. The dog is launched into the enclosure. Now she will go to the toilet in the designated place, perceiving it exactly as marked by herself. Sand is needed so that the animal can dig; it will have to be changed periodically.

The method does not always work, sometimes the dog relieves himself everywhere. To make it easier to clean, in this case, the floor in the aviary is made with a slight slope to one of the side walls or to the facade. So it is easy to wash off impurities from the hose, with some skill it is not even necessary to go inside.

Conclusion

Let's summarize:

  1. You can build an aviary yourself, the main thing is to correctly calculate the dimensions.
  2. The best materials are metal and wood.
  3. The roof must be quiet and the floor warm and tamper-proof.
  4. You will also need to build a feeder (preferably a rotating one) and a toilet.

Well, the house for the pet is ready, you can run it there to settle down. Of course, the dog will not immediately get used to the new room. But, if you did everything conscientiously and with love, but over time, there will be no better place for her.

Does your pet already have a house? If so, share in the comments: what it looks like, was it difficult to build it. Show how the dog lives in it, share life hacks. And let your pet feel at home there!

The feasibility of arranging a home for your pet on the territory is beyond doubt. Even the only argument that “approaching” a dog to nature has a positive effect on its health, activity, longevity, negates all the arguments that this is hardly worth spending time and money on. If you think about it, a self-made dog enclosure, according to your own drawings, is much preferable to factory-made products. If only because you still have to think carefully about how to place the purchased structure on the site without violating the general style of its design.

When erecting this building, you must first of all think about how comfortable it is for the dog and in what period it will be behind the fence. And there are a lot of other nuances. But there are certain requirements for any aviary, which you should know and be guided by in the process of its arrangement.

  • Recommended area (m²) depending on the height of the dog at the withers (cm): 6 - for 50, up to 10 - no more than 65. If it exceeds 65 cm, then ten "squares" is the acceptable minimum. But this only applies to the dog. For the bitch, the aviary is equipped taking into account the fact that she will have to breed and raise offspring.
  • Good overview. The dog must see the entrance to both the site and the owner's house. Based on this, part of the enclosure fence is made clearly visible. As a rule, in the areas adjacent to a residential building, a chain-link mesh is used for this purpose. It should be borne in mind that it is traumatic for a dog. This applies to ordinary, generic products with standard (medium) mesh sizes. If you choose it, then only with large ones, so that the animal's paws do not get entangled in it. Otherwise, damage to the claws or teeth of the dog cannot be avoided.

  • The cardinal points and the wind rose. Regarding the last criterion, it is necessary to take into account local peculiarities and make the wall on the blown area solid. Dogs, like humans, do not like drafts. In addition, with the wrong choice of a site for an aviary on the territory, it will be systematically brought in with snow, foliage, it will be constantly hot on the site and in the house. Here it is necessary to correlate all these factors with the climate of the region and the specifics of the location of a residential building; whether there are water bodies nearby, a forest belt or other natural obstacles, in the lowland or on a hill.
  • The location of the house. Aviary is not only a "big booth", but also a playground where the dog can play, bask in the sun and so on. Therefore, it is recommended to equip the open part of the structure where it is illuminated for most of the day. And it is desirable to arrange the entrance to the house so that it "looks" to the South, South-East or South-West.

  • A place for it is chosen on a hill, or the structure is raised artificially. This foresight minimizes the effect of cold soil on the floor. The flooring should be done with planks; this further reduces heat loss through the bottom. But that's not all. Don't forget about your pet's claws. Concreting the floor, covering it with hard sheets (for example, metal, asbestos-cement) will not lead to anything good. In addition, on a cold basis, the risk of joint disease in an animal is dramatically increased.

However, there is a nuance. There is still no consensus on the issue of gender in the aviary. Even experts are constantly arguing about how best to equip it. The fact is that animals by nature, at a subconscious level, have a habit of relieving themselves on earth. Therefore, it is more correct not to cover a part of the floor with a flooring, but to leave it as it is. But you have to take precautions. The dog can dig a hole and get out of the enclosure.

One of the options for eliminating this problem is to prepare a solid foundation with a wall (like a pit), and pour a layer of earth on top. As it gets dirty, it is easy to change. The advantage of this decision is that if the area in the aviary is large, then it will be much more difficult to do this, since the dog will mark it everywhere.

  • House material. Unlike human housing, it naturally lacks utilities that provide an acceptable microclimate. Therefore, for such a structure, wood is the best choice... First, it "breathes". Secondly, it keeps warm well. Thirdly, it does not heat up in the sun, therefore, the dog will not feel stuffy in the house.
  • Roof. It is preferable if it is mounted over the entire enclosure. Hiding from the sun or precipitation in the house, if it's hot outside, the dog is unlikely to become. The stuffiness in an enclosed space will force her to seek refuge outside of it. So you should think about where and how to organize the place so that at any time the dog can lie in the shade. The roof over the site solves all these problems. The main thing is to ensure its sound insulation and at least minimal insulation. Then, even in late autumn, the dog in the aviary will be comfortable.
  • Wood species. When choosing lumber, it is advisable to focus on 3 criteria - non-susceptibility to decay, prostate processing with conventional tools and an acceptable cost. From this point of view, larch is the best option. And if the board is thick enough, then a strong and warm floor (possibly without additional thermal insulation) is guaranteed.

  • Gate. Only opening inward. Otherwise, the dog will be able to get out of the enclosure on its own, and at any time, even the most inappropriate. Indeed, in such fenced areas, poodles or small spitz are not kept. In addition, the latch should be installed not only at a height, but also so that the dog cannot open it under any circumstances. It is also necessary to put it on the door of the house.
  • Structural strength. Guard or fighting dogs differ not only in mobility, but also in considerable weight. It is unlikely that a "weak" fence will stand for a long time if the animal is constantly jumping on it - whether from joy, seeing the owner, or from anger when a stranger appears on the site.

The best option for an aviary is a wooden house and a wrought-iron (or welded) fence. But if the first one is easy to build with your own hands, then the second will have to be ordered. Perhaps this is the only drawback of such a decision.

Highlights of the construction of the aviary

Seat selection

It is necessary to achieve an optimal combination of several factors:

  • A minimum of extraneous noise. Firstly, the dog, like the owner, periodically needs rest, absolute rest. Secondly, annoying sounds will only distract the dog, preventing it from performing its main function - protecting the territory. Therefore, it is not worth equipping an aviary near the fences around the perimeter of the site and the residential building.
  • It is necessary to provide the dog with a good overview of the approaches to the residential building. That is, there should be no obstructing "objects" in the form of garden buildings, pergolas, sculptures, high dense vegetation, and the like on the line of the aviary - the building.
  • For dog house and sites need to choose a place on an elevation. If the territory is planned, it should be organized artificially; "Raised" aviary will not only provide the dog good overview site, but also save his home from flooding (snow drifts) during heavy precipitation or melting snow.
  • The maximum distance from the segments of the territory, where odors can come from - septic tanks of the simplest modifications, cesspools and compost pits, and so on. Such a neighborhood can negatively affect the dog's sense of smell.

Aviary scheme

When choosing a suitable option, in addition to the size of the dog, its breed, habits, seasonality of residence are taken into account, as well as whether the aviary is a permanent home for it or serves only for walking the dog. For example, if the site is densely planted, besides, there are many expensive ornamental plants on it, the hostess is unlikely to risk taking the dog out of the house, freeing it from the leash and letting it walk anywhere.

For such cases, the aviary is made in the form of a mesh fence, but without a booth. The same applies to the roof - it is either mounted or not. If, in addition to the fencing of the site, a house for the dog is provided, in which he can sit out the bad weather, then it is hardly worth installing a canopy. A selection of photos and diagrams will help you choose the best option for such a building for your site.

Foundation

To do it or not, the owner decides. But if it is supposed to put a house for a dog, then it will have to be mounted. On this issue, the recommendations are different - the base is slab (pouring mortar), columnar, shallow tape. The most rational option for a small wooden building is to use sleepers (or tarred timber). By the way, it is according to this technology that many garden structures of the light type are being erected.

There are several advantages:

  • You don't have to do earthwork. And this is the limited space in the planted area, and the risk of damage to the roots of vegetation. All that is needed is to dig small ditches (10 - 15 cm) for laying the timber. This will give it stability and protect it from displacement in the horizontal plane.
  • High construction speed.
  • The cost of the foundation for the aviary is minimal.
  • It is very easy to fix both the lower crown of the booth and the wooden flooring of the walking area on such a foundation.
  • Good maintainability of the base. Replacing a rotten sample is easy.

All other options for the foundation are a separate topic, more related to the construction of a private house.

Main steps:

  • Territory marking.
  • Excavation of the soil layer in accordance with the open-air cage scheme.
  • Compaction of the soil, adding sand of coarse-grained or fine gravel, followed by compaction.
  • Laying polyethylene film as a waterproofing material. It is impractical to use roofing material - in damp conditions it will last from the strength of the year 3, no more.
  • Above - a bar. Additionally, you can exclude its offset in two ways. The first is to drill 2 holes each and drive the cuttings of the reinforcing bar into them. The second is to place them on the sides and ends of the blanks.
  • After alignment, the elements of the wooden foundation are fastened with brackets, corners, plates.

Dog house and playground

The nuances of its construction primarily depend on the selected materials. If it is wood, then the erection of the frame and the sheathing of it with a board is not a difficult question so as not to figure it out. You need to pay attention to such moments.

  • All wooden blanks must be processed with high quality. This applies not only to antifungal impregnations, but also to the surface. Readiness for installation is checked by hand; there should be no burrs on the tree, otherwise the dog may get hurt.
  • It is better not to use nails when fastening parts with nails. In addition to splitting wood, it is difficult to direct them exactly along the axis. As a result, protruding ends. And the maintainability on such a site is extremely low. Optimally - self-tapping screws for wood, with pre-drilling of channels and chamfering.

It is not recommended to use plastic panels (at least for external decoration) or other "chemistry" when building a house for a dog. Animals are very sensitive to the slightest odors, and many of them just make the dog nervous. He will avoid such a booth.

Flooring

Before mounting it on the foundation beam, it is advisable to make expanded clay bedding on the ground. Fired clay granules are good water permeability (it will not stagnate under the boards of the site) and are an excellent heat insulator.

Fencing

Either a beam or pipes of a small section are most often used as supports.

It is not necessary to copy any of the enclosures you like and look for exact drawings. This is just the basis for your own developments. With your own hands - it means doing as it is convenient for the master in relation to a specific area and breed of a four-legged pet. The main recommendations are noted, and everything else is the fruit of your own imagination, depending on the material capabilities and free space on the territory.

A modern country house can no longer be imagined without a dog enclosure. This attribute allows you to keep one or more pets of medium or large sizes in the area. But if everything is clear to the owners with the construction of the house itself, then there are still questions with the aviary. Having answered them, you can safely begin the construction of this dog's territory.

The first thing to do is to determine the type of the future aviary. In part, this issue is resolved according to the region where the country house is located. If construction is needed in the southern area, the dog's place can be fenced off with a canopy from the sun. But for the middle lane, you should take care of building a booth. In the northern regions, the aviary must be equipped with a winter road.

After deciding on the type, it is necessary to calculate the size of the aviary, which will depend on the free area on the site and the breed of the pet.

Aviary standards

Many or few? This question will torment the owner of the four-legged friend at the first stage of construction. To be clear, you need to know the minimum sizes that dog enclosures can be limited to:

  • Not less than 6 m 2 for pets with a height of up to 50 cm at the withers.
  • Not less than 8 m 2 for pets with a height at the withers up to 60 cm.
  • Not less than 10 m 2 for pets with a height at the withers of more than 60 cm.

These parameters should be based on when choosing the optimal space for the fenced area. To this data, you need to add the number of dogs that will live in the aviary. If you plan to have more than one friends of a person, then for each you need to add at least 50% of the free space.

Materials for building an aviary

When the size of the future structure is determined, then it is time to move on to procurement activities. But first you need to decide on the materials from which the dog pen will be made. And there are plenty to choose from here as well.

The main materials for the construction of a dog enclosure, which can be made by hand, are:

  • wood;
  • metal;
  • brick;
  • concrete.

The tree is the basis for the pet house and the frame of the fence. This option can be considered a classic one. In this case, the aviary itself is fenced off with a welded mesh or a chain-link stretched over the posts. Wooden uprights are installed around the perimeter and make up space for a four-legged friend.

The use of metal can be combined with both wood and brick. In this case, the fence is no longer a mesh, but a lattice. It is attached both between wooden posts and between brick ones. Also, structures with metal posts are often found, which is quite justified from the point of view of the safety and reliability of the entire enclosure.

The use of bricks, and in some cases natural stone, is due to purely aesthetic and design considerations. When the area around the house is refined in a certain style, then it makes sense to build the same enclosure. Otherwise, the use of this material will depend only on the taste and intention of the owner of the country house.

Concrete is mainly used to create the floor in the aviary. But wood also claims this role, remaining a classic building material. Also, the concrete mixture is consumed for the construction of the foundation for the fence. Therefore, you should not discount it.

Wood flooring or concrete floor

Choosing between types of flooring in an aviary is a very important step. On the one hand, concrete should be the undisputed leader. This material allows you to completely eliminate the digging under the fence, which will save guests from a sudden appearance watchdog... Nevertheless, this method also has negative consequences.

In winter, outdoor dog kennels with concrete floors pose a hidden threat to pets. The fact is that during frost, the stone cools down a lot. Then the negative temperature is transferred to the dog's paws. Prolonged exposure to cold from a concrete pavement can lead to rheumatism in a four-legged pet.

But wood is a more gentle material. Due to its low thermal conductivity, it does not cause such damage to the dog. But he has his weaknesses. For example, poor resistance to fungi and mold, which will accompany the flooring due to the close location of the earth. This scourge can only be fought by using various impregnations and antiseptics.

It is impossible not to say about the earthen field. In this case, no flooring is done and the dog walks directly on the lawn inside the fence. But this method is fraught with problems associated with digging. Four-legged pets are excellent "diggers". They will quickly get out and disturb everyone around. This is why flooring is essential.

Does the aviary need a roof

The answer to this question can be, again, the region where the country house is located. But one thing is clear for sure: the dog must have protection not only from rain, but also from the scorching sun. And this means that it is necessary to make the roof of the aviary. In any case, over most of it.

The choice of material can be approached in the same way as when installing a roof for a house. You can lay ondulin, soft or ordinary tiles. The choice depends entirely on the capabilities of the owner of the site. The main rule should be the following: the roof should not be noisy. This is important for the calmness of the dog. When it rains, droplets can knock loudly on the roof and irritate the animal. Especially if bad weather broke out at night.

Roof design can also be left to the discretion of the designer. Usually, single-pitched decks are made, which do an excellent job of draining water falling from the sky. But you can also find more complex projects, when the pet pen looks like a real house. Like in this photo of the dog enclosure

The door is an element of particular importance

You can enter and exit the fence only through the opening. It must be in the design of the aviary. But the entrance must not remain open, otherwise the dog will simply run away. Therefore, it is necessary to install a door leaf in the fence.

There is one rule for this subassembly. The door should open inside the enclosure itself. This is a safety requirement that some pet owners violate. In addition, there must be a strong lock on the door leaf. The entrance must be kept locked so that the pet does not leave its enclosure without the knowledge of the owner.

The lock mechanism should be easy to close both from the outside and from the inside. This circumstance will allow the owner to leave the fence without any problems, even if the passage is slammed. The handle is installed at the discretion of the owner.

The door structure is a rectangular frame. In the center, the canvas is reinforced with an additional spacer, on which the lock can be fixed. The material for the door is metal or wood. The choice depends on the overall design of the enclosure. A welded grating is often used as a door. But this option is usually installed on the same fence.

Feeder device

To quickly and safely feed your four-legged friend, you will need to install a feeder. This element needs to be considered before making a dog enclosure. There are always several feeding trough designs to choose from. But the most optimal one will be the one where the dog cannot get out and receive a bowl of food and drink.

This device can be made not only with a lattice fence, but also using a mesh. In this case, it is necessary to add additional bars to the wooden frame. This will create a small frame into which the rotary device of the feeder will be inserted.

If there are several dogs in the enclosure, then, accordingly, the places for eating and drinking should increase. The main thing is to provide the pets with comfortable conditions, and at the same time the ability to quickly put things in order so that the inside of the fence is clean and dry.

Booth or winter road

Where should a four-legged friend rest, hide from the cold in winter and from heavy rains the rest of the time? Of course in the booth. This structure is familiar to many from childhood, when every private house always had a similar place for a dog. But if there are several dogs in the enclosure at once, then one booth will not be enough and it would be most reasonable to build a small residential complex, which is called a winter road.

As a rule, these structures have a separate entrance from the street, through which the owners use it for regular cleaning. You can also build a window into it, so as not to carry out additional electrical wiring. And there is no need to mention once again that such a room should be high so that a person can work and move without bending.

Both the winter road and the booth must be well insulated. All work is carried out as in an ordinary residential building. When the insulation is completed, the owner will be completely sure that the dog will not freeze even in the most severe frost.

It is advisable to make a platform on top of the booth. This is necessary for the dog itself, which prefers to have a good view of the surrounding area from a certain height. The platform is at the same time the roof of the booth and it also needs a layer of insulation. Better yet, make an opening couch. Then the inside of the booth can be easily and simply cleaned up.

The entrance to the booth or winter road is small. It is enough to cut a square of 60x60 cm format. The corners of the entrance can be slightly rounded. He must have a curtain. It can be made from rubber strips, PVC, or simply hang with burlap. Such a curtain will not let out warm air and the dog will live comfortably on frosty days.

Instruments

Moving on to the practical part of building a pet enclosure, do not forget about the tool. The master will come in handy:

  • Hacksaw or electric jigsaw.
  • Roulette and pencil.
  • Bayonet and shovels.
  • Screwdriver and screwdrivers.
  • Hammer.
  • Chisel or chisel.
  • Sander.
  • Nippers.
  • Brushes, roller.

Depending on the design (if the option of an enclosure made of a metal lattice is chosen), a grinder and a welding machine may come in handy. But this is only if the master owns these tools, otherwise you can make trouble.

In addition to the listed inventory, do not forget about self-tapping screws, nails and paints and varnishes, which, to one degree or another, will be necessary during the work.

Earth, concrete and wood

Before you build a dog enclosure with your own hands, you will need to mark the future structure. Here it is necessary to designate all the zones in order to move further quickly and confidently towards the goal.

This is how a plan might look like, according to which construction should be carried out. It is more convenient to mark with stakes and laces. Excavation work can be started on this landmark. It is not worth digging very deeply, since the structure will not bear a heavy load. It is enough to go 20 cm deep to make a sand pillow later.

Next, concrete is poured or blocks are laid. The main thing is to get a stable foundation for the future aviary. If a metal lattice is chosen as the material of the fence, then recesses need to be made at the corners. The depth of these places should be at least 70 cm. During the pouring of concrete, racks made of metal pipes are inserted into the corners.

Decking and frame

When the foundation for the aviary is ready, they proceed to the strapping and installation of the frame. When choosing a tree as the main material, a timber is launched around the perimeter. Connections at corners and lengths can be made in "half-tree". In this case, the timber is cut to half the thickness (if the total is 100 mm, then the cut will be 50 mm) and each part is connected to each other.

Perforated corners and self-tapping screws are used to fasten the frame nodes. This is how a fairly strong "skeleton" of the future aviary is obtained. In the part of the structure where the winter road is located, the racks should be installed every 50 cm. It will not be superfluous to insert jibs between them in order to give the entire structure strength.

Roofing and insulation

When the frame takes its place, it is the turn of the roof. Top part the aviary is covered with rafter legs, on which in the future you will need to nail the sheathing boards. The distance between the beams depends on the section of the material used. For boards 50 mm thick and 150 mm wide, a difference of 60 cm is optimal.

Next, the lathing strips are nailed. For them, a board of 25x100 mm is used. The material should be edged, that is, the sides of the planks should not have areas with bark. Depending on the version of the roofing, the boards are nailed with or without a distance between themselves.

On the racks of the frame, it is required to install a windproof film, and place a heater inside it. As the latter, foam plastic, basalt wool or similar materials are used. When laying the insulation, there should be no voids left. This will avoid freezing.

Floor device

Interior work begins with the flooring of the aviary. In the winter road, they should be as well insulated as the beds and the roof. But a double layer is required on the floor. So that the insulation does not fall through from below, boards are nailed to the beams.

If the floor covering is chosen in the form of planks, then it makes sense to leave a gap at the edges. This will allow air to circulate and prevent mold and mildew from growing.

Winter road sheathing with door and mesh installation

The aviary is almost ready. It remains only to bring the polish. And for this, the winter road needs to be sheathed, giving it an attractive appearance... For this you need a lining. This material can be secured with nails or with special clips.

A cordless screwdriver is useful in work. With its help, the installation can be carried out on self-tapping screws, which eliminates damage to the edges of the lining.

It is also not difficult to pull the netting, and any person will hold a master class with this material. For fastening, nails, staples or self-tapping screws with a press washer are used. One condition must be met. The attachment must be strong so that the dog cannot pull it off.

At the final stage, a door is installed. The canvas is screwed on with hinges and self-tapping screws. When everything is in place, a lock or bolt is installed on the door. The dog enclosure is ready.

The feeder can be fixed directly to the net or, if possible, between the posts. Now the pet has a place to live and eat. He, in turn, will faithfully guard the owners' country mansion.

Types that you can make yourself

An aviary for dogs is a large enough structure, where the animal can hide from heat or cold, will not allow the animal to attack your guests. It is not difficult to make it yourself - it is enough to understand what materials and drawings you need. And it depends on what kind of aviary you plan to build.

There are several types:

  1. Fully open (usually represents a plot of land fenced with a metal mesh with a booth inside)
  2. With an open front, partly insulated (closed with solid walls on 3 sides, with a roof, boardwalk and a booth)
  3. Partially insulated with an adjacent fenced plot of land for walking (partially closed on 3 sides with solid walls, has a booth and a walking area inside)

Each type is perfectly combined with the other, it can be altered and supplemented with details to your taste. There are many do-it-yourself photos of aviaries on the Internet.

Necessary building materials

Make an aviary with your own hands? To make any of THEM, it is worth buying metal profile pipes, wooden panels with a thickness of at least 2 cm for walls, fastening materials, material for the roof, concrete. The price of the material that is needed for construction depends on the characteristics of your structure - its size and type.

On average, the price of a metal profile pipe is from 35 rubles per square meter, wooden panels cost about 6,000 rubles per cubic meter, soft tiles - from 400 rubles per square meter. You can replace all these materials with analogues.

It is not necessary to build the wall of the enclosure from a metal mesh-chain-link - such material is dangerous for the pet, it can injure its paws on it.

How to make your pet feel comfortable

In order for the dog to live well and calmly in the aviary, it is better to follow several rules when building this structure:

  1. A sleeping place must be equipped for him. Often this is a kennel made of wood with a litter inside. The booth itself must be built taking into account the size of the animal.
  2. For protection from the sun or precipitation, it is worth organizing a canopy if you have a completely open type.
  3. It must be at least thirty square meters in area - this is necessary for the dog to be comfortable, so that he can run freely and stretch out.
  4. It should equip a feeding place and a drinking bowl for the animal.
  5. On the front, do not forget to build a door with a good latch for entering and exiting the enclosure. The door must open inward and have 2 locks - both outside and inside.
  6. All wooden structures should not be in contact with the ground - a concrete foundation should be considered.

Stages of self-construction in the photo

  1. First, it is worth determining the type and size, which directly depend on the size of the animal. On average, an aviary is 6 to 10 meters wide. Having chosen the size, we begin to draw the drawing. We calculate how much building material we need.
  2. Having purchased the necessary material, we proceed to construction. First, we build the floor. The easiest way is to make it out of concrete, but in winter it will be uncomfortable for your pet to be on concrete. It is worth covering the stone with wooden boards. The floor should be made slightly sloped so that water does not accumulate on it when it rains.

  3. The next step is to install the walls. At least one of the walls must be translucent and made of metal rods. The grate should be welded and then primed and painted to protect against corrosion. The rest of the walls can be made from planks. Make sure that all structural elements are connected well to avoid the pet escaping. All walls must be firmly dug into the ground.

  4. Then we begin to lay the roof and install the door with two latches.
  5. The fifth stage is the design and installation of the booth. It will be most convenient to build a booth made of wood according to a separate drawing, calculating its dimensions depending on the size of the animal.
  6. Finishing touches - it remains to install the feeder and lay a soft bedding. The aviary is ready and your pet can move in

Relationship between breed and type of aviary

The type of aviary depends on the breed - for short-haired it must be insulated, and building it for furry dogs, you can save a little on insulation materials.

Breeds such as the German Shepherd or Labrador require a lot of movement as air, so make the area for walking larger. Calmer and more judicious Alabai and Caucasians need a little less space.

DIY projects and drawings

Where should be located

The main thing is to choose a place to build on your site. It is not necessary to place it in the most remote part of the yard. There is a great opportunity to regret what you have done, because a dog that is isolated from society will worry and bark loudly.

A dog enclosure will be superfluous and next to the fence: your dog will be interested in people passing by. And if the dog is large, it can easily jump over the fence, for example, in winter, choosing a snowdrift as a fulcrum. It could end up in trouble for both of you.

The best place is the frontal part of the yard. It will be located near the gate to the house and next to the walkway. The dog will be able to observe what is happening around, but it will be quite isolated in its shelter.

Provide your pet good conditions accommodation. The construction should be treated with special responsibility. Before starting construction work, consider:

  • Pet breed;
  • Age;
  • Site location;
  • The wind rose.

Features of the structure of walls, floor

If the aviary is being built for a dog that will always live in the yard, it is important to protect it from drafts and lock the adjacent and back wall. To build these walls it is better to use:

  • Wooden type-setting board;
  • Thick grooved board in metal frames;
  • Brick;
  • Monolithic concrete;
  • Cinder block.

The open wall should face south, southeast, southwest. It is made from metal rods.

It is better to use rods rather than mesh. For the price it will come out more expensive, but it will last longer. The mesh will break after a while.

The gate is made using a metal frame and iron rods. How should the aviary be closed? Dogs are intelligent and cunning creatures. They open many locks. The constipation must be firm and outside.

Provide your pet with a warm, dry floor. Wood is often used for the floor. Thick plank flooring is durable and draft-proof. The base can be made of concrete, but the presence of a wooden deck with ventilation from below.

Asphalt, concrete and other of these coatings can harm the claws and joints of the animal.

Boards need to be processed special means to protect against mold and decay, make sure that there are no knots and nails on them, because the animal can get hurt.

You can make a wooden flooring in the form of a panel structure. First you need to assemble a metal frame from a profiled pipe. Then sheathe it with boards with a thickness of at least 40 mm.

When installing the floor, pay attention to the fact that the boards should not bend and there should be no gaps between them. Otherwise, the dog will easily hit there with its claw. The bottom of the boards should be open, this will prevent rotting processes. It is better to waterproof the soil under the flooring using roofing material.

To create the desired gap, it will be necessary to raise the flooring on a stand, brickwork will serve as a support.

The floor should be sloped from the side walls towards the center and towards the front side.

There are no special requirements for the roof, it is important to have a large visor. It can be made from any roofing material. For example, from:

  • Metal tiles;
  • Slate;
  • Soft roof;
  • Professional sheet.

The best roof will be the one that protects the dog from precipitation, but will have high noise insulation. The slope of the roof must be done towards the drainage system, then water will not accumulate under the flooring.

General condition to keeping a dog in an aviary - a place for walking and a spacious booth. The booth should not be huge, but the dog should sleep comfortably in it, stretched out with his whole body. In cold weather, she should warm the house from the inside with her warmth.

The presence of a place for walking is necessary so that she can relieve herself, run or warm up. There may be a vestibule next to the booth: the dog's personal belongings can be stored inside it. For example, toys, bones, bowls, puppy maternity ward.

Booth and feeding place

Be serious about building or purchasing a booth. It is your pet's home, refuge and place to sleep. Consider the nuances:

  • The size of the booth should be suitable for the pet in size;
  • Inside, the dog should be able to turn and stretch;
  • You don't need a lot of space, such a booth will be cold;
  • Use coniferous trees for the walls of the booth;
  • If the climate is harsh, additionally insulate the walls;
  • Make the roof of the booth removable, so you can get to the dog or get it out of the booth in case of illness;
  • It is better to make the roof flat - for the pet it is an observation point for what is happening;
  • Make sure that the dog does not leave the enclosure using the booth as a help.

Set up a feeding place closer to the fence. It is better to make or purchase a table with grooves for bowls for water and food.

Aviary for puppies

The aviary in the apartment is useful for puppies if they are planned for the dog. During the period when the bitch feeds puppies at 1 month, a minivan will be the best purchase.

The enclosure of the apartment should contain dog bedding, toys, a bowl of water and a diaper on which the dog can relieve himself.

An aviary is not a place of punishment for a dog, no matter where he is at home or on the street. This is the home where she should go with a positive attitude and feel safe there. In it, she cannot be punished and beaten.

Knowing the basic parameters, construction steps and technical features, you can build a pet house yourself.

Features of keeping a dog in an aviary

In order for a pet to feel good and not get sick, its owners first of all think that space is needed for its life. For the animal to receive enough light. A booth is set up in the aviary. The size must correspond to the parameters of the animal.

On the door of the booth, you can make a canopy of warm material, which will save your pet from colds. Felt works well for this. The aviary should be kept clean.

Your dog needs companionship, so you need to take time to give it your attention. If you do not do this, your pet will grow up shy or, on the contrary, will show aggression.

Periodically, the dog needs to be walked. This is necessary for her physical development. Aviary content has its undeniable advantages.

Competently and correctly created conditions for a pet will help him grow hardy and will not create problems with joint disease. It is imperative to remember about a balanced diet and prevent obesity.

How to accustom to an aviary

Dogs learn to understand the commands of their owner quite easily. It is not so difficult to accustom them to the aviary.

Dog handlers advise you to follow some tips:

  1. Place a treat on the territory of the enclosure not far from the entrance to it. The dog must come in and take it by itself. It is impossible to force and forcibly drag the animal. As the first fear and uncertainty pass, the dog will decide and go to the treat prepared for him. This exercise must be repeated until the dog itself will not calmly enter it;
  2. Then you can put a feeder in it. First, you can put it at the entrance, gradually moving it to the place where you planned to install it. The dog will get used to it quickly, the feeder will evoke pleasant associations in it;
  3. Teach your dog commands. For example, it can be: "Into the aviary!", "Place" or some other commands. Praise your pet for the correct command;
  4. When the animal gets used to it and can stay in it for some time, you should close the door and make it clear to him that it should be there. You can pet the dog or pat it on the withers by treating it. If the dog expresses dissatisfaction: grumbles, whines, barks - this means that it is too early to leave him for a long time. You should not always indulge your pet, he may understand that actions can force the owner to open the door;
  5. You can put toys, bones in the dog's aviary. It will be fun for her.

Home kennel for dogs

An aviary for a dog at home is necessary if: your pet has puppies; a dog of a room breed lives in the apartment; other animals or small children appeared in the house. A rabid bitch needs a secluded place where she will be confident in the safety of her offspring. An indoor aviary will become such a place. Slightly grown up puppies are active and often tear, break and gnaw everything that catches their eyes during the game. Before the puppies are given to new owners, it makes sense to keep them in the arena.

Often in apartments you can find enclosures for small dogs. Living in such a "house", the animal gets used to the fact that food, a place for a toilet, a bed for a dog are always in one place. When the habit is developed, the dog will not leave marks in different corners of the room, but will get used to the order.

If your beloved dog considers himself the owner of the house, then with the appearance of another dog or, for example, a cat, the animal may become jealous, nervous and protest. As for the families in which the child was born - sometimes the four-legged guest does not immediately react adequately.

To protect new residents of the house and help the animal adapt to new conditions, it is advisable to equip a dog enclosure at home. A simple dog enclosure looks like a fence that is installed anywhere in the room, and, if necessary, can be moved or assembled. In such a playpen it will be comfortable for puppies who cannot get out or jump over the fence. Their mother will be free to enter or leave the arena.
